F6F-5 vs A6M5a

Speed difference: (at 100% throttle)
30k: 40 mph
20k: 30 mph
5k: 2 mph

Fuel time in S3: (Clean / With droptanks)
F6F-5: 48 min / 78 min
A6M5: 60 min / 94 min

Would say we want to fight the zekes as high as possible as we have speed advantage at alt. Down low the speed is equal, but the zekes outturn us somewhat and has much better six view.

This is a real interesting matchup. I dont believe the numbers tell the whole story here. The 6 view or lack thereof is a huge factor. While the F6F is much faster up high, not so much when flailing around trying to check 6. And although the a6m5 and F6F are closer down low, not so much when the F6f can just boom and zoom, extend. The f6f bleeds more E up high trying to compete, the a6m5a bleeds more trying to turn and burn down low where the f6f can always dive and extend away. On the deck it takes too long for the A6m to gain the advantage so unless numbers are waay in favor of a6m the F6F is not too bad there either. The F6f biggest threat to survival is carrier landings and flying alone.
