Here are the rides for Frame 3

Bombers (Knight's, UMM, Nomad's and Night Stalkers): B-24's
352nd: P51's
4th: P47's or P51's Your choice
23rd:P47's or P51's. Your choice

Basic Overview: I will have the 352nd do close escorts, the 4th forward sweep and the 23rd on our six. I really want to surround the buff group with fighters in hopes to keep as many a live as we can.

Can ALL the bombers take off again from the same as in Frame 2? If so, we'll follow the route posted earlier with some time hacks and plan for some TAC turns when the enemy has been located. This really trough them off last frame.

Let me know what you all think.

Yep, this it. Straight and to the point with TAC turns. It's a bold move, but I think we can pull it off.

It would help the close escort to have a reliable T+ time and altitude at M5 on that chart.
In our assigned ride, the best we can do to M5 and 30,000' is T+30 if we have the same base as last Frame.

Buff dudes, how much fuel do you think we should take if we follow Muskie's route to 27k?

I can do a run tonight and check unless Gum's or someone can figure it out. I still would like to take as much as possible in case I loose one tank like last frame but it does hurt the climb rate.

Are we looking at a CS of 150 again?

As stated by others in other posts having the 23rd AND the 4th in 47s is probably NOT advised.

Hawk,
I did a limited run tonight (got a late start), this is what I came up with:
T+0 - Up with 50% fuel, CS set to 150 started WEP1 climb asap
WP1 - T+27, 15.8K
M1 - T+30, 18.1K
M3 - T+36, 22.4K
M5 - T+43, 25.3K
On DAR - T+45, 26.1K
M7 - T+49, 27K
level, 98%
M9 - T+55, 26.5K
M11 - T+61, 26.5K
M13 - T+66, 26.5K (need CS150 to maintain altitude)
M15 - T+73

I like the times, they look like we should have no problem keeping the lites ahead of us. It is tough to maintain altitude without continually climbing.

Salute!

I got petty much the same before Christmas, Musky.

The thing about least amount of gas is the rate of climb is better, and you can cruise at a lower power setting. A slightly faster than best angle of climb speed also cuts down on the laggers, as they have positive speed stability. At optimum speed for climb angle you need more power the slower you go. So get on up "on the step" and you'll see better formation and usually better range.

5 or 10 minutes of climbing after drop and then cruising at 90% or even less also hurts the enema lites as it increases
GS and prevents them from quick re-attacks. I always liked 30.5K, but it's up to Hawk or whoever is leader at that point.
