I don't see either 44 or 58 as valid/legal tgts per Donkey rules. Gotta have those steeekeeeng "stars" on the legal targets.

Thanks for that, Gums, Sir :-D

By the way, I haven't seen cranes, or bridges scoring points for the allies, in the points per target table. So I asked Jabo in another thread about it.

Anyway, let's go for F69 as you suggested Gums. The rest of the plan is waiting for Jabo clarification on the points thing.

Of course well need heavy defense on our front line… and I'm thinking on a AI (JU52) hunt...

Salute!

Yeah, didn't notice the "cranes" missing from Allied tgts. Was going by the general rules for the series where Donkey talks about crnes and bridge spans, etc.

I think most here like the idea of vulching and hunting the JU's.

F69 is worth the warm up mission, ya think? Then we start to move further into injun country frame after frame.

If we could close 2 fields in the 69 mission it would be better: 10 Raider + 4 Nomads = 14 lancs (???) that's a lotta bombs.

Running a lanc mission to 69 right now to see what they can do.

I'm planning on a big wing fighter sweep in the S of the continental Europe like 15 min before Buff reach their DAR, to see if we can drag their defences S.

I'll post results latter.

If we don't score points for bridges/cranes will need to do the AI/shipping hunting. but I really just wanna send people agains ships as last option due to target issues and deadly ack.

We (NSs) can run a ship sortie and see what we are dealing with. I'm quite sure they will not be as easy to deal with as last series as all the icons are warship icons so I'm guessing the freighters will be fewer in number and harder to find. It's actually a good mission for our limited numbers.

Don't sell the 38 short for escort duty. Excels at altitude...with drop tanks can go a long way.

"The first Allied fighters over Berlin were 55th Fighter Group P-38s on March 3, 1944. When the Merlin-powered North American P-51 Mustang was introduced, with a laminar-flow wing for efficiency, the final escort fighter development of the war was complete."

Toss in a large ammo supply you now have a fighter with gas, and performance. The fact that it is a harder aircraft to employ (until you get used to it) may be at part of the issue:)

I would recommend close escort for bombers with a sweep out front. If you can engage the intercepting fighters and get them low, you can negate their effectiveness. Just something to think about....

You got it mt-dew! Going to 6,7 grid?

What a/c you're planning to use for that? Not sure if I can spare some escorts for ya :-?

My initial thoughts:

1) Nomads + Raiders coming from 3,7,8,5 and hit L44, swing south and also hit S58 and getta hell outta there to the NW.
352nd and Raiders fighters as escort; risking 90 points (18buffs) for 30 (2 fields)

*gums: if we are to stay at their DAR for 40 miles, this route give us 2 targets, instead of 1 and less time for them to react (as if they don't know from were we will come from^^^^

Flying like this out of DAR for most part ~ 600 mile (320 to target) round trip - we could be over target at T+ 82ish and RTB by T+150.

Heavies can't fly that route noflyz. Per the rules "Allied heavy bombers may only use two LAFs indicated on the map". These are L26 and L19 if I'm reading the map correctly. With L26 right on the front and under LW radar, L19 is the best option. It will be a primary target for the 262's and 88's in frame 1. We must protect it!

Might could be done, but we buffers are hesitant with the Lanc due to its puny deer rifle otto, despite the promise of close escort.

Libs can carry big eggs, but not as many as the Lanc.

Let's let DR and Nomads try a Lib, then get back.

Secondly, run-in heading is extremely important to have acceptable "lines" that use the eggs that you have. In other words, you would like to have several tgts for each line/buff hitting those. You also use "cross-targeting" whereby two buffs gang up on the hardest tgts to increase the Pk. We normally only get one pass to do it, so we have to do it right with maximum odds of success.
