It was a good plan and I like to think that most of the B29 bases were socked in by a tropical thunderstorm and only a few made it up to fly with extreme bravery into the heart of the IJ defences. Not as bad as you think score wise because the IJ waited too late to launch a Kami attack on the US carrier and just missed hitting it. This was because they moved their mixed strike squad to fighter and only had dead guys in the Kami role. It was a risky gamble that did not pay off. IJ figthers continue to be at the losing end of fighter vs fighter combat, they make up for it by getting US strike and bomber aircraft, generally AI but sometimes players too.

I think historically we forget how much the Kamikazes struck fear into the US forces. We paint the IJ as blind suicides but they often escorted their Kami attacks with the few experience units they still had. They did not waste proven fighter squads on Kamikaze runs and had special fields prepared just for Kamikazes.

AI use continues to be problematic. I attached to B29s as far away from real pilots as possible. Some put up a good fight taking several bursts to fall apart while others blew up like Zeppelins. I think dry runs with AI just trying to keep them with the lead aircraft are necessary to figure out possible fixes corrections or SOPs. Bomber pilots are more than welcome to take the fighter login and select the regular bomber interface without any AI if they feel they will be more effective. With bufftuff at 1.0 it is probably much harder this way.

Thanks Robert.

So the climb rate and service ceiling of the KI84 was "tweaked" just before the series, but the pony ceiling was somehow incorrectly set? Hmmmmm... :D

Nah, the pony service ceiling was my fault. I tested all parameters such as climb rate, speed, turn-rate etc to historical data, but forgot to test the service ceiling until last week. Despite him being quite rough in posts on the forums, I must say Dawger has the outmost integrity when it comes to being unbiased towards aircraft performance. And he deserves a big <S> for putting in 3-4 hours fixing the P-51D when I found the error. The update is now out and the P-51D can now reach 41 000+ ft at Military power (clean), and ~42 400 ft if using WEP the last stint. :D

Cheers!

I am terribly sorry for not being there for S3. My computer died and I had no browser, email, team speak, or connection to game, therefore, no contact.

Just have your XO or pilots check in here...

the info is available to all.

We look forward to hearing from more of the DRs on these boards.
