This is my plan of attack for the Buff's
(NOTE: I will add angles later this week, no time today)

Image

Red line is Buff Group #1 (lead)
Green line is Buff Group #2 (trailing)
Orange is egress

If group #1 and Group #2 up at the same time and use the same speeds, group #2 should be 39.8 miles behind group #1.

Group #1, Knights and Nomads
Group #2, UMM and NS

If anyone has some time I would love some time hacks or I will have to do it tomorrow or Thursday.

B17G, (6) 1000lb, 70% fuel, CS 135, climb to 26K using WEP1 (should take 50 min.).

I believe that it was stated elsewhere that taking the 1600# bombs would yield more TOT than the 1000#.

Couple of things with that.
#1 the B17 can't climb worth a crap with 1600lbs.
I tried and tried and couldn't get over 250 ROC without dropping one

#2 TOT only counts on Berlin. I am not planning on hitting Berlin this frame.

I agree, the 1600's are out of the question because of the weight issue.

Salute!

Final status of the Nomads is unclear. We are down to three, and two are flying with UMM this series. We are, after all, Nomads.

WE DON'T WANNA TAKE AWAY STEPS FROM THE LARGER UNITS OR OVER STEP A FIELD

Even with two Nomad guests, the UMM will barely make up one step if all show up.

Guess I'll have to get on the CO forum and talk about things.

1600s work fine as far as you adjust fuel. I took 47 gallons less (*67%) to account for the 400lbs extra weight and climbed up to 26K in 51 minutes.

This frame we can go w/ 1000s for having extra bombs but just a point to remember going forward when TOT does matter. with 20 bombers that's 8000 extra pounds on the targets.

Great point noflyz, we need to test the climb rate of the B24 with 1600lb'rs since they carry the same number of 1600 as 1000. especially if going after Berlin.

Gums, Steps for the buffs don't matter this series so should not be an issue.

Time hacks flown with

BST1 till it ran out (T+60) then at 100% then kicked back BST1 at T+105 or so.
1000x6, Climb Speed 135 to 26k feet then level.

Red/Orange (Recommend T-30 start):

T+05 3.2k feet
T+46 26.0k feet
T+80 26.2k feet
T+90 26.2k feet
T+95 26.2k feet
T33 - T+118 26.0k feet
WP6 - T+126 26.2k feet
WP7 - T+150 26.2k feet
Home - T+200 (We could push her nose down, use BST more etc. to her get in by T+180 but it's hairy).

Green/Orange (T+0 is OK)

WP21 T+05 - 3.2k feet.
WP22 T+10 - 6.5k feet.
WP23 T+39 - 23.5k feet.
WP24 T+51 - 26.2k feet.
WP25 T+84 - 26.2k feet.
T28 T+112 - 26.0k feet.
Home T+167

Attaching DTF modified to add in time hacks, distances etc. It's a little cluttered so some may want to stick w/ the original.

Obviously it burns a bit more gas but its worth climbing at full combat power until it runs out.
Combat power is only useful from SL upto about 15k so you may as well take advantage of it to get better initial climb rate.
You cant blow an eng in WB afterall.
