By my (limited) tries I am not able to meet at the RV at 25K @T+40. We could continue climbing and we can get 25K 15 miles NE of the RV.

Overall we don't believe this is a two sortie night. Its going to be a two hour round trip. So if you really would like us at 25K at the RV please allow another 5 minutes.

Best altitude will be fine. T+40 is the priority.

How much fuel are you using?

The second sortie will be a close thing but is certainly achievable with an RTB to F153 instead of F196. We will see how it shakes out

Here are my results of flying the profile

B24D 500 lb bombs 35% fuel (820 gallons)

Climbspeed 150 mph

METO power MINUS 10 % for formation (112% throttle)

Time to 25,000 -26 minutes
Distance to 25,000 -72 miles
Fuel to 25,000 - 213 gallons

This leaves about 50 miles to go in 14 minutes to make the radar edge at T+40

I don't see where the issue is unless the fuel load is excessive for the mission.

35% is more than ample as it leaves 2 hours fuel at 100% throttle at the top of climb, enough to fly 560 miles.

Thanks. Let me check that out. I was using 40% Fuel & the 1600lbs. load out. With that It was roughly 40 minutes to get to the 131 mile RV point and 22K.
Also my earlier calculation of number of bombers needed was GROSSLY WORNG :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
It only takes
14 - 67600 - 500lb(8) 1600lb(6)
7 - 47150 - 500lb(6) 1600lb(4)

So feeling much more optimistic about closing them down!

I tried 30 or 35% gas and 12 x 500 two times. Climbed at 100% power and 150 so wingies could use WEP.

Times were O.K. but I leveled at 22K. I can't see any higher.

After drop, RTB to F44 was easy, a so a second sortie is possible.

There is a 22% power band between 100% and METO (Boost 1). No reason not to be in METO with power backed off to 112%.

10% is plenty for formation station keeping.
