The Group was tasked with sweep escort for the buff raids on F-43 and the airfield at F-45. The able pilots of the 4th FG finished-off the targets left by the buffs at F-45, and out pilots destroyed a varied selection of targets remaining at F-43. One of our flights was tasked with defense of the Northern CV group. The CV-based flight was rotated throughout the Frame to allow those pilots to participate in the predominance of the action which seemed to be occurring in "The Slot" area.

It may be noted by some observers that a number of Ground Targets were taken out at F-53 and F-54, our assigned bases. Destruction of these objects scored NO POINTS, but were critical to our many operations from those bases. The Combat Engineers neglected to remove the palm trees in the close proximity to our runways. (I'm still looking for that Sea Bee Group's CO). So when we had aircraft returning to base with available ammunition, we took out the trees ourselves to remove the obstacles to our operations. Kudos to our pilots who accomplished with aircraft what the Combat Engineers seemed unable to do with their dozer and blasting crews.
