MY frame AAR.
F37 was a hot spot. We took off and started for 37 to cap and the 23rd were the only ones there. Most of the others went towards the NW looking to suppress any incoming from that direction. Of course the 352nd in A6m5's came out of 37 and were higher than us. We lost one before we could get to the field and we got scattered by them. Singly we arrived just after the bombers were headed out after closing 37 with some zekes starting to make passes at them.
For a change my guns worked well or should I say I was shooting straight and managed a hat trick of 352nd pilots and then the AE came in and managed to take out 1 more (juice) with 3 of us working on him also. The rest RTB'd while I had close to 50% ammo and I went out and found the bombers headed to 2/3. I was one of 2 escorts and stayed with them until I had to rtb for fuel without any guests showing up.
F28 remained hot as the balance of the 352nd had it capped plus a roving cap over the others, so I rtb'd at a different field further S and reup'd after the cap left it. Climbed south and with luck by my side discovered 3 sets of betty's NOE headed to I believe 53/52. Lost the right gear and flaps with 1 pass from the rear at a very high speed and 2 passes from the front HO position. All the time calling out position and finally the AE showed up in Hellkittys which finished the one I was hitting and they downed the other 2. WTG gents. Rtb'd for parts and guns and together with foo saw another attack on dar at 53/52, so over we went and I kept high while foo took a couple of stabs at the single Betty. He fueled it, but took 20 mm in the head, so I took a couple of HO runs on it oiling an engine, but losing flaps and a bank of guns. Called out the position and heading last seen and rtb'd for the night.
The plan worked well and many appreciated the time you put in Ohsix. <S>
