Apprehension Strikes Deep Dept. There is this wholly ethereal entity commonly referred to as the "Spirit of S3s". There are probably as many definitions of that as there are players. In the case of this particular Series, the only way the bad guys can get any score is by fighting our bombers and fighters, as they seem to have almost wisely given up on our close-to-shore shipping lanes. The Allies are sorta obligated to take the fight to them, so that they, and we, have something interesting to do.
So, what do we do if presented with an all-fighter Allied Air Force?
Please note the attached chart for referrence.
The coast near Dieppe is sorta a "lightly defended" area that happens to be "target-rich." There are towns, ports, and shipping targets available. There are even two high-point bridges in that area.
So, what if we flew the P-47Ds "heavy"? Two flights of P-47s are available. Each could have its own escort of a Spit XIV Squad. IF nobody comes by the time the P-47s get to the shoreline, they could lose alt and drop headed out to sea to regain altitude and come back to assist in a possible fight. IF the bad guys show up on the coast, the P-47s could maintain altitude and join in what should be a huge furball. If time permitted the P-47s could jet their ord over one of the towns from altitude and prolly get some points.
Unopposed at the shoreline, two bridges would be nice
BTW, I'd have the whole gaggle of fighters form-up and head out of Dodge at about T+25 and get there "early".
I would have the Hurricanes on Allied Shipping Lane patrol, and assisting on the most easterly V-1 lines to give the 23rd slightly less area to have to cover on V-1 intercept.
Comments and wholly alternate scenarios are solicited.
