Frame IV Orders.

Plan Summary - I'd like the RCAF to roll out of F62 to scout out ahead of the 352nd's area of patrol. 352nd will not be far behind the scouts and will be near if they call out contacts. LF-6 will fly down the west side of the map to paint a picture over Moresby to help attract enemy away from the primary target. The Knights fighters will be close escort for the bombers and will be responsible for keeping the other fighter groups up to date and time of the position and heading of the bombers. This is very important to keep you alive.

I have provided a general map of the idea, but I am not sure what route the bombers will be taking unless it is the same as the previous drawing in the planning thread. Please provide a DTF or just an image or the route for the other groups to get a general idea of your path.

FIGHTERS

RCAF - Field 62 Scout out ahead of the 352nd and look for contacts headed north. If spotted please shadow them until you have an advantage over them to kill all. This includes having to call an element of the 352nd if needed. I'd like you to be near the 4.4X area when the bombers are heading in to offer close support.

352nd - Fields 54 and 57. Roll out ahead of the bombers and knights fighters and sweep along the radar range and engage at will. The RCAF will be in the area for support, so please call contacts if you see them. It's important to clear the path into field 80.

LF-6 - Fields 48 and 49. Roll at T+0 and climb hard south along the red line and paint yourself on radar. Once on radar slow down as if a tight group of buffs and maintain altitude. I would like you to be near the bombers after they drop to help escort them out. You are free to engage any and all threats to the bombers. Get them home safe, they will need another sortie. JG-77 will have the task of the RADAR emitter. Good Luck and I hope you can get out and rearm for the remainder of the evening. ~S~

Knights Fighters - Field 51. You will be close escort with the bomber group and also provide radio communication via country channel of all heading changes and altitude increments of the bomber group.

STRIKE

UMM - Field 52. I'd like you to fly as one group with the Knights bombers and the Primary target will be F80 and then the surrounding fields.

Knights Bombers - Field 52. You will be merged with the UMM bombers and your primary target will be F80 and the surrounding fields.

I still don't have any volunteers to go out ahead of the group to kill the RADAR. The bombers may have to plan for this target on the first pass.

Good luck to all and any changes will be made in RED.

Please post any question or concerns below.

How much is required to destroy the darem? II./JG 77 may be light on numbers and could take sneaky approach to kill it. Though in Ki-43s, the ordnance and ammo is very light.

Intercept location, time, and altitude will be interesting for the Ki-43 flights to know. As Zin observes, we can fly them nearly forever, but they have short clips. It will take approx. 1/2 hour for aircraft which engage near the "front" to RTB rearm and reappear on the "front" again.

The 250kg GP bomb is 416.67.

At 2000 damage points to kill the radar emitter, looks like the fifth direct hit would do the job.

Happy trails...

Banzai!

Yep, the EM hardness is way off scale.

We have to talk with the programmers 'bout this.

Just think about the base of the antenna mount. If the antenna winds up on the ground because the supporting mast is gone, then no threat. Go look at the typical antanna mount of the era and convince me that a coupla 250's could not take it down, or at least keep the sucker from rotating ( non- Chain Home design, and smaller, shorter wavelength).

Gums-san whines....

Hmm, I'm going to assume the old login/logoff trick does not work any more. In coming up with best attack routes to avoid as much ack as possible, I was able to shack the darem with a single direct hit every time. I guess we will have to trust the calculations are accurate and take 6 bombs for measure, unless jabo opens up the arena early.

That is of course Doc wants to do a surgical strike before buffs get in the area.

Yes ... This I would like if it can be done without having to drop a destroyer on it.
