~S~ Sakai San for frame CO role. ~S~ Hawk San for the well coordinated joint mission and ~S~ all fighter groups who covered and kept us safe. In attendance were: -pd--- gundoc guttdu sy-cho noflyz We lifted out about T+10 along w/ the KoN. The initial delay due to AI wingmen not available but was soon corrected. ~S~ Jabo san. We headed out of F66 NOE SW till out of enemy DAR. As we climbed out we had one of our pilots down in the mountains due to technical trouble. Not being far from home the rest of us held a pattern while the pilot was able to re-up and join us. During all of this time we had great communications going with KoN and were able to get on their route around the 1x5 cross, just about 5 minutes behind them. After their drop and assessing what targets were left we assigned them to our bombers and headed in. We lost sy-cho to the disco gods (undamaged) so the four of us proceeded to drop bombs on 91. The Ammos and Hangers proved very hard and did not go down. We did get 1 Ammo and most of the houses that were standing. We then proceeded to RTB. Again after consulting with KoN and Sakai San we decided to follow KoN into target for round 2. We were down to 3 pilots now as guttdu had to leave after the first sortie. On route we go the great news that 91 closed. When we talked to Hawk san we were informed that they were all out of bombs closing 91. We felt good that small as it seemed our first drop mattered. After a quick consultation with the fearless leader, we decided to hit 88. We knew we did not have enough bombs for the job, but it was worth a try. We got all targets but the Ammos and a single warehouse. Pretty much in this series we have found the Ammo dumps to be the hardest of targets. To close the night, as pd and gundoc finished hitting their targets I was lined up on the warehouse. When I hit the "B" key to release the bomb I did not realize I had the "control" key held down to talk on TS. Believe me you don't want to hit Control-B at 24K feet. It was a long ride down in that chute. I used the time by getting into my settings and unmapping Control-B! I jumped on to pd's guns as we headed home for a safe landing. All in all mistakes and confusion apart we had a good night and had great fun. |

Good Job, UMM! I appreciate your work and dedication to getting it done! As I mentioned in the AAR, I should have sent Jabo fighters to finish off the field at Moresby and sent you all to Goodenough. But reflection is clarity and does not lessen your successes. You all did a great job in a hectic frame. Domo arigato! |
