23FG based from F194 initially to strike RadarEM at F241 then pull back west to patrol for incoming raids near the Eastern front.

The RadarEM strike is diversionary but will aid in expected defense on eastern frontier.

I expect the eastern bases to be closed early so they should plan to RTB 220 (MOB).

Secondary task will be scouting eastern frontier second sortie or as directed. Join the Reaction Force when possible if there are no Eastern frontier strikes to counter.

475FG will base F233 and will scout Northern frontier for raids as directed.

LF6 and RCAF Wing will Base F1 (LF6)/ F220 (RCAF) and be the reaction force.

I need close communication between these two groups so they can coordinate and support each other. Primary Task is to engage ANY large enemy presence (minimum 10 CONFIRMED bandits or radar targets) Secondary task is to cover evacuation fleet/Transport AI routines 220 heading West.

JG51(drdart) will have tactical lead to assign all other reaction force units unless the units concur on a specific leader. Be prepared to support 23FG as they withdraw from strike/patrol at F241 early in the frame.

If 475FG discovers large enemy presence in the north reaction force operations will shift northward. Tactically I would like RCAF Wing to engage and LF6 to enter the fight once RCAF has gotten the enemy to commit. This will require close coordination as LF6 will need to be just out of visual range of RCAF Wing at all times. The Reaction Force will have full autonomy at frame start. Do what you think best up to and including trashing these orders and proceeding with a different plan.

AE will base F256 and patrol Sevastopol area and protect the Transport AI heading west or as otherwise directed.

Unit Co's may choose aircraft to suit expected action.

Primary focus should be killing raiders or Soviet shipping. Shipping targets may be reserved for late frame sorties. Avoid anchored fights against Soviet fighters, especially out of friendly radar coverage. Avoid extended fights against the Yak but the Soviets seem to have difficulty with the LA5 and can be expected to lose many aircraft from pilot error if engaged in a knife fight.

Bf109G units should strive for an altitude advantage and hard deck the fight at 15,000 unless in decided superior numerical advantage.

Other aircraft types should avoid prolonged engagement. Hit and run on the Soviet Fighters with attacks planned on an egress axis to avoid giving the enemy favorable intercept geometry.

475FG will likely be in several small units. Reaction Force should not respond to ANY bandit calls less than 10 aircraft. We cannot be drawn into a low anchored fight to save a two ship element unless it is the enemy main force fighter cover and we have the opportunity to destroy them.

I will provide initial GCI but would like relief GCI once we sustain losses.

Relief GCI should be willing to type contacts in a consistent format (Number, Location, direction of movement) and be able to provide PREDICTIVE vectors to units.

Example: 5 bandits 41X HDG 300, Friends 31X fly 060 (Note the direct heading to bandits is 090 but 060 is an intercept heading)

Questions welcome. Flexibility and Unit initiative are primary. Be decisive and strike hard. Don't ask for permission from me. On scene commanders have full authority.

Dr. Dart, I don't think our TS needs a port, I sent you a PM with the info.

If you are in the 109G6, we should have the 190A4, to provide a good mix of fire power and mission roles.

We had some problem at F256 last week, you need to move half way down the runway before you can get over 40 mph. I tried F257 offline and it is similar, not quite as long a slow period. I landed on the slow side of F257 and it ripped off my gear, but otherwise it was fine. You can have AE start at F256, but if they can't get their aircraft off, you may need to rebase them to F257, or perhaps to F206.

BTW, just so everyone knows, if squads lose their airfield, they are reassigned to MOB (220). There is no stacking limit there so any aircraft getting there are fine (only if you lose your home airfield). ;)

7. Squad Basing - each airfield type has a limited number of squad steps it may base during a frame. Squads are assigned a homebase for the entire frame and must not use any other base during the night unless it is to refuel and then proceed back to their homebase to replane. If a squad homebase is closed all pilots not stuck in the tower must fly to the Main Operations Base(MOB - F28 & F21) and conduct operations from there for the rest of the night. Any pilots stuck in the tower are done for the night.

Remember you can always use any base to refuel as long as you return 'home' after. The 23rd used this rule last night on the first sortie.
