S3 Series

The original plan was for an escorted strike on an airfield at F-32 early in the Frame. As the escort fighters from the various groups began to assume their positions, it was becoming rather obvious that the enemy was planning an attack that would be coming West along the same path as would be taken by the strike group. The sweep element of the 352nd sagged to the south a bit to pick up the preliminary bandits while the Knights went into a holding pattern as the escort fighters from the various groups engaged the enemy to prepare a path for the strikers. Shortly, the enemy flights began to move to the East, and the Knights headed in to their target. Field 32 CLOSED!
It seemed like most of the air-to-air action was concentrated in the early portions of the Frame. Axis aircraft seemed to have the run of the terrain for at least the last hour of the Frame. It was a bit of a scramble for scout pilots to report what they were seeing to their COs to get guidance for targets of opportunity to attack; and attacked they were by most all elements. It was an interesting evening for the Axis pilots, many of whom noted that basketball-sized projectiles were occasionally flying by their cockpits.

Claims
The Command Staff of the 352nd Fighter Group is pleased to announce that pilot =Dobs= was skillful enough in his Bf 109 aircraft to become "Ace-in-a-Day".



Pilots SAspin and Vulche have operated their Bf 109 aircraft with enough skill in the first two Frames of the Series to become a Series Ace.


Saspin is the only surviving ace with 6 kills and 7 assists with no losses.
