Took off 207. Climbed west. Sent scouts low who engaged and killed a few bombers. Squad engaged over 293 and regrouped over 8. Numerous hits landed on various la5s, no kils claimed. Responded to scouts call they were engaged with bomber and escorts low to south east. Headed that way post haste...ended up in the additive furball when the 352nd and 4th hit puree on our blender.

Lost most of squad in that fight. Anyone know what the gun settings are? Lw 20mm seemed weak...several cannon bursts landed close range <d2 with apparent effect.

Did not see close message since engaged, scouts landed closed field and were done for the night

Questions we had:

Was everyone on tac27. Was not seeing a ton of comm? Did anyone else stand down besides AE due to not being able to talk on country channel? Did any cons ever show up in NW area?

TAC27 was fairly quite as it was the new country channel and no other TAC could be set. Chatter was limited so not to clog message traffic.

109G6 cannon seemed fairly affective vs most of the things the 23rd shot up.

I did notice in the MA the 190A1 cannon was not very affective. A4 was much better.

Enemy showed up at in the North at about T+140 or so. Scattered contacts were spotted but no real engagemet ever took place up North. After T+160 they turned for home. From what I saw on the roster they were mostly 4th and 352nd pilots looking for easy action. They covered their last AI IL2s for a few minutes but we were able to get around them and finish off the last of them.

Thank you all for keeping them your way. While you guys fought we were able to close 3 airfields and shoot down 41 AI IL2s. Not a hugely exciting night for us but I think we were able to put up some good numbers for the team.

Funny, I had a completely different experience concerning the cannons. We flew the A-1 and the measly MG FF set were able to cut down the La-5s like butter, after that we could only use the 3300 rnds of 7.9 to tickle them around the airspace. One tired reasoning for what we were seeing may have been a case of lag with the entire VVS is one area. The one La-5 I was able to get good guns on took about 5s before the PK registered. I was well past him and looking for other targets by then. I was able to chop up a B-25 pretty bad later in the frame with the 20mm leaving him with no gunner or tail control surfaces.

It was a helluva fight in the east, we were pretty much rearming every 15min and reengaging within 5min. As a whole we did what we could and came out better than we probably should have in a 2v1 situation I think, and that's just the fighters.

475th was too aggressive and pushed too far east chasing bandits. My call and I relearned the lesson. Low anchored fight on enemy radar is ALWAYS bad

<S> dawger and the rest of 475th. We (LF6) looked forward to working in close proximity with your group. The communications glitch to start the frame kinda threw us off as well and then just getting into action within a few minutes of t+0 pretty much kept our groups from combining our forces.

Its a common occurance in S3 play. Its not load on the general so much as too many updates to the front end on the players box. Only seems to happen in busy environments and AI must be included in the equation. Will try and spread them out a bit better. Terrains with lots of objects or roads in one place seem to be the worst. The TAC area of the ETO was always notorious over the years.

<S> 475th on your successful return to the unfriendly skies. There is a rule change since you returned to the S3, though I did not see it printed in the rules this time. When your home field is closed, you must use MOB as your new base for the rest of the frame. In this case it is F28, right near Sevastapol. You are allowed to land at any field to refuel on your way to MOB ;)

It didn't matter...our scouts landed a closed field and were done for the night. I'm not sure anyone landed anywhere else, and if they did it was onsie/twosie for fuel after 207 was closed. I think they all died prior to landing...

Just for verification, (and future reference), could we have teleported to F28 (MOB) after landing at closed field 207? I know the rules say no teleporting, so I suspect that we made the proper decision to count ourselves as "done for the night".

You did make the right choice. You can't teleport but you can re-roll and g land at your MOB before re-engaging the enemy.
