Was good night for Eagles. CO (besea) out for (real world) medical. (He will be back as soon as he can. Has been hospitalized but should be back in week or so. ) I took squadron lead for night, and decided on MC-200 for our mission, " ground attack". Bluzoo, PPPEPP, Ozzone, Heaven in attendance. Decided best use of plane was AAA suppression (Anti Aircraft Artillery) as light forward armament and bombs only available on the MC200. Idea was to allow ME110's to expend all their heavy armament on hard targets without AAA interference. Flew six sorties with no air to air losses and assisting in total destruction of all assigned targets for night. Losses 2. Both to counter fire from AAA batteries. Mission very successful. Able to suppress all AAA for attacking heavy fighter bombers following us at all three locations and assisted in target destruction. Night was exciting for all. Much appreciated the support from the other attack units and the 4th who always seemed to be in right location at right time. It was this great coordination that allowed 100% success last night. <S> |

Thx for the kind words regarding the 4th FG Bluzoo. Bombr was doing GCI for us, and had us on an aggressive footing all night. We didn't get many kills, but it seems every time that we showed up to meet the enemy, they wound up bugging out fairly quickly. Sometimes it's not about how many we shoot down, but rather how much we allow opportunity for ground attackers to get their jobs done. Again, Bombr was the hero of the 4th FG last frame as he had us at the right altitudes and in the right places so that we could dictate terms of engagement rather than the enemy. |
