JG51 flying with LF6 was tasked with defending the northern area and the action was intermittent. We had several engagements, the first of which was with a group of escorted B17s. We took out 3 of the B17s and one escort but the escorts kept us tied up enough that we weren't able to get to the B17s again. Subsequent engagements were with scattered smaller groups. Combined LF6 Summary: 18 pilots 69 sorties 67 safe landing(s) 2 airframe(s) lost (2 x Bf-109G2E) 2 pilot(s) KIA 0 taken POW 11 victories (4 x B17, 5 x Spit, 2 x P38) 12 assist(s) 1 ground objects and/or AI destroyed <S> |
