The Group was tasked with both ground attack and area air protection. With bases located closer to the front than were initially anticipated, we were able to take out all of the CO's wish list for the Frame as well as a number of enemy fighters. The Ground Attack portion of our activities required a number of trips back and forth to our bases. Without the revised basing the number of ground targets destroyed would not have been possible. It would appear that our initial sortie discovered the enemy's northern attack group. Following their initial engagement, they never really seemed to come out in any numbers and most of the action moved to the south.
