Post subject:	Sentai 23 AAR
Koku Sentai 23 was assigned to protect the emperor’s glorious aircraft carrier Shokaku. We launched with 12 brave pilots, breaking into 3 groups. One group stayed close the ship looking for low level torpedo bombers while the other groups climbed to their assigned altitudes and spread out looking for the enemy. The groups searching found the enemy carriers and tried to entice the Allied dogs to climb to the fight, but they wouldn't take the bait, all we did was succeed in making them angry and frustrated. As we were patrolling, we were informed that the Japanese Navy had a strike package inbound to the Imperialistic dogs’ carrier, so we turned back and engaged the enemy allowing the attack to succeed We were credited to shooting down 7 US Navy fighters while losing one brave pilot. After the attack we returned back to the carrier and landed for ammo and fuel. We launched with 11 pilots tasked with repelling the allied attack on field 43. We broke into 3 groups; with one staying close to the carrier as protection from the torpedo bombers the enemy surely had hunting our glorious carrier. The other 2 groups proceeded to the 43/50 area and began harassing the U.S. Navy dogs, getting 1 kill to no losses. We landed at field 24 as dusk settled in the sky. We lost 1 air-frame/pilot to 8 enemy killed. Was a great night and fun was had by all.
