Well... we do the same thing as last week. What worked, what didnt?

should we all go in together?
should we have 2 groups (try and catch them re-fueling?)
do we go in from different directions at different times?

With radar as it is... the Hurricanes would gather on the 8 line and wait.. but there isnt much trickery allowed other than on the deck.

ideas?

Soooo,
A big question. Who is actually reading this forum? Cool is trying to organize stuff, and it would really help him if people at least respond. If you've read the thread, please acknowledge it. That let's Cool know if he is talking to empty air, or an audience!
Thanks guys! <S>

Cool,
If it can get organized, I'd suggest a massed formation at medium alt, where the MC200s fair a bit better. Hurris are less likely to rack up the kills they have been managing on small groups of SM.79s

OK, my two Penney worth, for what it is worth.

We have been going in low. If we got found we were slaughtered.
But when we were not, we got away.

Low level from different directions?

Comments?

First time (frame 2) 4th went in low first mission. we climbed to alt 10 miles from target to try and get out of the rapid fire AAA. We were found and the fighters couldnt really do anything much... the hurricanes could re-engage because we couldnt force them down... now there was success also... different groups...
perhaps there is a combination we could have tried... low alt from all points of the compass... bad if found but good for everyone else.

In a fighter... without altitude to help you dictate your fight or even the option of diving.. the Mc200 was totally outclassed by the hurricane (at least in the hands of the 352nd) so at low level they would turn around us... power away... run us down... ugly :)

Lets see what frame 4 involves (we are off for this week, the 10th)

Quote:
Frames 4 and 5 - Operation Hats
2 Sep 1940 was the operational debut of the Ju-87B in RA service.

Frame 4 - Operation Hats – 2 Sep 1940 - Bomb the docks!. The RN has pulled of a major coup, using three warships from Gibraltar (HMS Valiant (BB), HMS Coventry and HMS Calcutta (both AA CL)) to provide vital munitions and military personnel to the Malta garrison. In addition, the Mediterranean fleet from Alexandria successfully escorted two merchant ships and a RN tanker to Malta.
RA Objective – Find and sink these ships before they can unload (end of frame). Target shipping will be represented by AI routines in or near the Grand Harbour of Malta
minimum ~30% of RA must fly Ju-87D exclusively
