To: IJN and IJAAF

We held back the Americans long enough to cover our retreat to New Georgia.
More importantly we struck a decisive blow to the enemy by sinking the USS Enterprise!
Now must hold the line. We will need both low cover and high cover at New Georgia airfields.
There is rumor that the Americans have acquired an Aircraft Carrier on loan from the British. Keep your eyes open
for this Carrier and send it to the bottom of the sea.

We have just learned that Admiral Yamamoto will be inspecting the troops on Bougainville Island.
The course is outlined on the map provided. The Admiral’s flight will be landing at Ballale Airfield at T+60.
This is a great honor.

Important Information for Yamamoto flight:
We need a squad to volunteer for the Yamamoto flight. If no one steps up, the 4th will make the flight.

There will be:

2 GM4 Bettys
6 A6M-3 Zeros for escort

Before launch 1 Betty pilot must claim to Nookyb that his aircraft is carrying the Admiral.
You can tell me in the forum, through email. or in the buffer before launch.
Keep this information Top Secret as we do not want the allies knowing which Betty is carrying the Admiral.

Flight launch from Buka Airfield F2 at T+30
Load out: take Torpedo.
Once in the air and clear of islands, drop your torpedo and direct your ai to land at Buka F2.
(Bring up map and right click F2..should send ai to land) There will be no ai this mission.

Follow flight path on map.

Bettys climb to 4,000ft
Escorts climb to 5,500ft

You should time your arrival at F24 Ballale Airfield at T+60. Yamamoto prided himself on his promptness!

IMPORTANT TO ALL AXIS

To be historical, the allies have been given Yamamoto’s flight path and time of arrival.

Allies will be following the historic flight path (green)

AXIS IS NOT ALLOWED TO ENGAGE ALLIED FIGHTERS ON GREEN PATH until they engage Yamamoto’s flight.
Once the allies attack, we are free to engage.
We do not know their planned route for RTB but axis is free to engage as they RTB.

This is a bonus mission for 20 points. If Yamamoto lands safely at F24, axis gets points. If Allies shoot down the Admiral, they get points.

Good Luck Gents!

I am currently looking to see if Lf6 has enough pilots to complete the special mission. If I can get enough to commit to this Frame, it would be our great honor to transport the Admiral.

By the way, WildBill has agreed to ride along in one of the Bettys as Admiral Yamamoto! he can man the tail gun if needed.

IMPORTANT:

352 has volunteered for Land based duty. Operate from fields 38, 40, 45

4th FG will fly and escort Admiral Yamamto from Buka airfield F2 to Ballale airfield 24. Wish us luck...its going to be dangerous. Once that mission is over, anyone needing to land and re-arm may do so at F24. 4th will then vector to the battle most likely on the East end of New Georgia. ETA T+90 - T+100

All other Squads. Fly IJN. Launch from the CV.

All Navy pilots: You must launch from CV, however Command has thought it prudent to move our Carrier fleet away from the battle as the Americans might be trying to seek revenge for our sinking of the USS Enterprise. Therefore once in the air, you may rebase at any airfield on New Georgia. You may not switch to army plane and must use Navy planes for the remainder of Frame 2. (no K-61 or Ki-43)
