At T+0 each squadron independently decided to hold in tower to watch the radar screen. Approximately 10 - 15 minutes into things, the gods of war decided that waiting in the tower sucks and dumped everyone from the server. Once that was past us, we began to filter back in and each squadron independently decided that—to appease the aforementioned gods of war—they would take to the skies and fly around lest everyone get dumped again. After another 15-20 minutes of this, the enemy began to appear on the radar near the spot where the Rhine River dumps into the North Sea. Although vastly outnumbered, Axis fighters began to head in the direction of the Netherlands. Bomber escort was like a new Marine's haircut, high and tight. For some odd reason, the Allied Strategic Bomber Command decided that the Allied ground troops did not need any bridges to enter Germany and thus destroyed many of the bridges over the Rhine. In a historical setting, this would be welcome news. But alas, this is more of a hysterical setting so they probably are feeling good about it. The vast majority of the action centered around Fields 53, 54 and 57. I saw numerous B-24's being taken down, but unfortunately, I saw many valiant brothers-in-arms taken from the sky as well. Advice for next frame? Don't climb out so far to the East; climb closer to the front line so that we can disrupt the bombers before they reach their targets. All things considered, everyone flew into an enemy with vastly superior numbers and performed as well as one could expect. I cannot fault anyone's effort. Good job! <S> Nick |
