FRAME 5 - BATTLE OF RANGOON (Japanese Offensive) June-July 1942 To: Air Combat Group 飛行戦隊 ‘Hikō Sentai ‘ 15th Army, Enough is Enough! We will stop the enemy once and for all. You are ordered to conduct interdiction attacks on the enemy’s ablity to resupply. To be successful you must destroy a total of 15 of the following targets: Rangoon f138: 6 parked aircraft Port of Rangoon: 6 ships (4 at the docks, 2 in the bay) Supply convoy on Burm Rd: unknown number of supply trucks As a result of the cowardly attack on our parked aircraft. I have convinced the Navy to supply us with a limited number of their best fighter aircraft, the A6M Zero. It is better than the enemy’s aircraft in almost all respects. You are the superior fighting force now with superior weapons. I am expecting a complete victory for our illustrious emperor. We will not fail. - Gen Shōjirō Iida, Commander 15th Army FRAME 5 - BATTLE OF RANGOON (Japanese Offensive) June-July 1942 Axis objectives: Interdiction strike on Rangoon and supply convoys as specified in your orders. Allies objectives: Defend Rangoon and surrounding installations. Defend supply trucks while destroying enemy fighters and bombers for points. Scoring Frame 5: • Axis destroys 15 objectives: Axis earn 3 frame points, Allies 0 earn frame points • Axis destroys 10-14 objectives: Axis earn 2 frame points, Allies earn 1 frame points • Axis destroys 4-9 objectives: Axis earn 1 frame points, Allies earn 2 frame points • Axis destroys 0-3 objectives: Axis earn 0 frame points, Allies earn 3 frame points • a running tally of kill/destroyed points will be kept and added up at end of series. Aircraft: Allies 2X P-40E 1X P-40B 2X Hurricane 1 1X C-47 Skytrain penalty plane 3X B-25 Axis 1X A6m2 (*There is no evidence of the Zero in theatre before Oct 1942 but added for gameplay) 2X Ki-43-Ic 2x G4M1 Betty (2x Ai's) 2x D3A Val (2X Ai’s) 1X Nakajima L2D penalty plane |
