My apologies to the troops. Due to poor visibility of targets at our altitude of 18k the bombing plan turned into a dismal failure. We lost several bombers to the Russian Air Force as we were trying to get a visual on targets below. I will be out next week as I travel to Berlin to make my report. I am hoping to avoid the same fate as the weatherman (shot for reporting less than ideal weather)
Thanks to the toughness and experience of our squads, we shook off the bomb run failure and adjusted to a low level fighter slug fest. The 4th capped along the point and southern line of the Russian bulge providing escort and cover for single bombers and supporting ground forces to close and capture several miles of the front.
One of our wing pairs deserve special recognition for downing 10 enemy planes between them. Excellent job robert and victim! I will include your exemplary performance to the high command when I make my report in Berlin. Hoping to see you again in two weeks...
Auf Weitersehen,
