With a force of 6 planes carrying 60kg bombs, we headed out to destroy the coastal watcher's outpost 85. Initial navigational equipment malfunctions provided an additional challenge as we utilized dead reckoning and VOR triangulation to navigate to our target. (Along the way, navigational equipment became operational.) Multiple dive bombing runs were made on the target and it was destroyed.
Upon returning to our airfield, it was reported that Allied aircraft had begun to attack an airfield adjacent to our own. We expedited our return trip to engage the enemy who had quickly fled at the sight of The Emperor's fierce warriors. We pursued the enemy who ran in the face of the enemy, much to their own dishonor! We returned to our airfield to refuel and rearm.
We returned to the sky and flew to the area of Fields 77 and 78 where we encountered the enemy who repeatedly dove away rather than engage. Their planes proved fast but less maneuverable at altitudes above 5000 meters. Having driven the enemy away from the area, we commenced strafing ground targets at Field 77 with our guns. A couple of airframes were lost to ground fire.
Some elements from our hikotai returned to destroy ground units at Field 77 while other elements pursued the enemy in the areas of Field 77 and Port Moresby. Multiple enemy aircraft were destroyed in the sky as the enemy witnessed the ferocity of the warriors for The Emperor!
I do not have a current tally for aircraft and ground units destroyed.
For The Emperor!
