I was thinking about acting as the frame one CO but could not think of how to counter the Green RADAR advantage.

RADAR Green Gold
Range 60 20
Number Many Few
Coverage No Gaps Many Gaps
Depth Deep Shallow
Field Closure Hard Easy

If I were Green CO I would close the fields with RADAR site in the first frame. This would blind the Gold and make it difficult to defend mainland in later frames as the Gold would have to a spread out air assets. Gold will not be able to mass air assets in the right place at the right time to gain control of the air space. The Green have RADAR coverage over most of the AOA so they will be able to bring numbers to the party and decimate the thinly deployed Gold air assets.
So how can the Gold counter this disadvantage?
What are the Green's weaknesses
What are the Gold's strengths.
Where is the Scoring spreadsheet

Board attachment quota has been reached :o :( Can old post be cleared out?

I just deleted my uploads to see if it helps with space although some were off site as we had this same trouble before.

Considering the bombers the allies have I would suspect noe raids as the b25 is the only one that can move relatively fast at any altitude... and any bomber flown takes away from their ability to escort a somewhat large bomber force.

I'll look things over and post any other ideas later ohshix.

Not seeing a change in the Game Rules. What did you change the RADAR range to?

S3#110 - Molders Vs Malan - Battle of Britain - July 1940

Game Settings

Radar – 60 mile radius(RAF), 20 mile radius(LW), grey dots, in-flight arrow. Minimum alt is 500 ft.

I have confirmation that photo bucket now allows you to upload and link photos for free once again, fwiw.

Thoughts:
No drop tanks for spitfires or hurricanes. Timing may come into play.
First Sortie both sides can airstart all pilots, but is back away from the channel.
The somewhat limited number of available pilots, as well as limited number of dedicated bomber pilots, needs to be taken into consideration.
Obviously if any fighter pilots fly bombers, that is less fighters available for escort.

As much as I hate having people screening noe for the enemy, it may be a good thing to have a three pairs patrolling some miles noe off the coast of the 3 coastal radar units. It is one way to defend radar, and you can damn well bet there will be noe strikers either all nite or at some point. Probably singles. It may well be boring, but such is war.

I concur that they will be attempting to take out our radar. Since we don’t have point values yet I would think their other targets would be areas of high concentrations of targets. They won’t want to be dilly dallying over enemy territory hitting multiple targets, unless they are close.

If we have the resources you can send out some loners to scour for the enemy but they will need to be flying extra smart.

For us, don’t waste the 109E3 airframes on silly engagements and use the 110’s prudently.

That’s all for now.

Thanks Doc. At some point this forum will move to IENs site and we may to look at the file limits. Not a huge issue these days I think.

I forget when but at some point they added more German radars to the terrain. Dont Know if it was updated on Muzz's maps. The idea was to give more radar coverage to the Luftwaffe than the one ship radar they historically had. Represents visual observers along the coastline.
