Gentlemen would like immediate input as to Frame 3 action against Allied Forces.

Frame 2 was a shambles due to hardness of AIs and other problems. We of course we lost F6 and F18 with only F1 left now to launch from the British Island.

I was also thinking that having to launch from France if I were the Allies I would hit F1 first taking into consideration that the AXIS would only have limited capabilities about using it as a Major launching point. IT should be easy to overwhelm F1 very quickly due to the distance from French fields. The number of AXIS AC that could get up in time to meet incoming Allied Forces would mostly likely be limited and possibly overrun.

I am also wondering what the Allies have to do to win the Frame and Series, which could be done on this frame. I think we must defend F1 at all costs and use it as effectively as we can or loose this Frame and the Series now.

We definitely need to get input from all concerning OPS planning for this frame. It also seems for the most part the frames are just going to boil down to a slug fest for who comes out on top.

I would appreciate your thoughts on anything concerning Frame 3s activities by Wednesday morning so everybody can see them before a meeting I have planned for Wed evening on TS. If you would, please forward your input to Capt12pm@sbcglobal.net as well as listing in AXIS forum. I will combine all comments, put them in ONE TOPIC, email them to each CO and then place them in the AXIS forum. This is not normally done but thought I would try it. In addition forward your email address so I may contact you individually if necessary. Even if you may have supplied it before, please do it again, just to make sure I've got it. Thanks! Please specify how many pilots/AC you will have.

Darryl how did you do in Frame 2. Were the AIs hardened like the Wellingtons. I dumped a third of a clip in each of three AIs with absolutely no effect whatsoever. Bombr dumped an entire clip in a Wellington at D2 and didn't even get an Oil Leak, no damage that he could notice. In addition to this, it seemed like we had Allies coming out of what were closed Fields? I am checking on this one!

Did the rest of you have similar problems.

I will set up a TS Channel in the 4th Group to discuss our possible actions in private. I would like all of us to meet Thursday evening at 19:30hrs CST to clarify our postings and to make final plans. Please let me know before hand if you can not attend. The password will be Dumbell with a Cap D the rest lower case. I will make it available immediately for those who may want to discuss issues before Wednesday. I would like to have orders out by Thursday so if any changes are made, they can be dealt with quickly and as required.

If I missed something, please let me know ASAP.

I too went after 3 different Wellingtons, and like you put 1/3 ammo into each.
Absolutely NO effect. no pieces, no smoke, nothing.
Same was experienced by all our squad that made passes on the Wellingtons. At least 8 of us.
Not one Wellington kill.

Horrido!

Plan to be there for discussion, but initial thots now in case of problems.

One thing that has bit us in the behind is the tuffness of the drones and the drone requirement for at least one mission. Hence, we had our drones decimated in first two frames, and espaecially in frame two. I think this rule was the problem in frame two:

Quote:
AI aircraft can do damage but need to be escorted to get there. All aircraft in an AI routine are very easy to damage, they do not use the typical damage files of regular aircraft

I do not believe we had escort for any of our drone packages in either frame, did we? If not, then Donkey-breath did not call this out. Guess up to us to figure out all the rules and such.

Therefore, since we only need at least 1 drone package, let's make it count and I suggest we go for the two fields the buffs did not close last frame - 33 and 37. AI type does not seem to matter for points, but loadout IS A FACTOR!! So use JU-88 drones and hit 33 with minimal escort. The 4 x 500 kg eggs are deadly, and if we add the 10 firecrakers we get more damage. Just my thots.

Boats are in the river and two are anchored at 74. We don't need all the buffs, but maybe a couple could hunt/sink boats. We also spotted a boat or two near F32.

The Allied critters could be ripe for taking with 88's or the 110's. However, they need top cover!!!

I see this series as evolving to a litefest after first two frames. Our buffs have done a decent job of closing the close Allied fields and even sinking a few boats and killing some critters. But the Allies have had gunnery practice on our drones and then they closed our two fields on the island.

Lastly, if our Dover radar sites are still up, we need to protect them in order to have GCI for the island.
