The 127 WING and the 8th AF launched 7 pilots from F180 and headed to the 1.5 Cross area with 4 KI 84s and 3 J2M3s. After climbing to 30 K we began patrol east to the 3.4.9 grid, but vectored southerly to investigate reports of enemy aircraft in the area. The first elements in (wcat-swede) found higher corsairs and blew through them. Eagle eye wcat found the buff stream of Liberators while the 4 KI 84s tangled with the escorting F4Us. Deak managed to bring down one corsair while we lost two to them. -wcat- had a field day downing 4 B 24s before being dispatched and bailing safe. Deak continued his marauding ways downing 2 more 24s before he also had to abandon his aircraft bailing safe.
Has been great having the 8th fly with us, and if everything works out we look forward to their company for along time. We are in serious talks about combing all groups.
Totals for the evening were 7 B24s downed, 1 F4u for a loss of 3 KIA's and 4 bails. All in all it was a shorter night then we wanted, but thanks to dewolf and the S3 staff for another enjoyable outing...
Thanks again and cya in "two weeks"
