F167 - LF6 - go to 4.6.x and watch for Allies from the West or South West. There is DAR at 173, 174 which can't be attacked which ill make it impossible to sneak into the inland sea with alt or go overland with alt from the West. Please keep a couple planes low to watch for TBF which will probably be NOE.

F18&183 - 352nd - patrol area south of 186 to save our southern DAR - 25K alt.

F180 - RCAF & 8th - patrol area south of 186 to save our southern DAR - 5K to watch for NOE aircraft.

Type of aircraft is squad CO choice.

Pending rules.

No rules on basing, so it is good to go.

BTW, DAR is 60 miles and min i 300 feet.

If F190 is operational, I would be tempted to put 1step there in fighters to get the jump on Allies forming up. They most likely would be laden with fuel.

Everything is up except the summary for points. You may have to reload your pages to see it.

First 3 frames you will have P47s out of Okinawa. They are awesome up high but take awhile to get there.
Since they get the B24J in Frame 4 I would suspect they would use their two navy AI missions in the early frames.

All fields are Japanese and open except those 3 at Okinawa proper and Iwo Jima.

Basing is very loose this series so you can cover the large grids in this terrain.

Sakai: I would put a step there if they has B24's, but the B25 gets up much faster. A squad basing there might get overwhelmed by Hellcats and 47's . Ifyou want to put a step go aheas but br sure you are both faster than they are and have the fuel to get to the mainland. Just let me know.

OK - Did some testing tonight with Luftflotte 6 brass Jugggo and Tmoa.

Our testing was with the N1K, J2M and Ki84. Tmoa flew Allied in P47, F4U1, F6F and F4U4.

Against the P47, our planes out performed in all areas, acceleration speed, level speed and climb to 7km. From 7km to 9km the 47 was slightly faster in climb. In a dive test from about 4km to the deck, the N1K performed equally to the 47 at a reduced throttle.

Now against the Blue Planes, our airframes were suspect. The F6F was faster in level flight and in climb (though we did not do a side-by-side). The Corsair / George matchup will come down to alt and angle advantage. I give the nod to the Corsair in turn and top speed. We need to make sure the Blue Planes are NOT above us. Simple as that.

The Ki84 has a good level speed at 4km running around 530kph. The N1K climbs gracefully. Jugggo got the J2M to close to 11km in around 14 minutes (+/- 1min).

I encourage everyone to do some testing in the planeset and determine the best fighter for their tendencies and mission.

@ Besea - I am reconsidering the idea of placing some at F190...Tmoa was able to see me launch on radar from Okinawa. Dar reach is just too far and eliminates our surprise. I would add, though, the Allies will most-likely attack that field in Fr.1.

If I were them (and I know there are some who think like me there  ) I'd eliminate DAR at 147 (and 186,189). Doing so pretty much allows for them to have undetected access to several targets. See pictures of full DAR vs the three taken out.

I think they will hit 186, 147 later as we can cut then off if 186 is still up. :) 185 and 170 are also targets. probably in later frames.

Nice maps for planning ;)

Thanks, Noflyz! By The Way...

I think Frame 2 is still looking for a CO - why don't you take it? Like Beaver said in the CO thread, this is a good series to start off.

Anyone attack the B24Js flying around as an AI routine? After extensive testing in the arena I have come to the conclusion that any AI aircraft in a mbl routine is easy to down with a couple well placed shots. Does not seem to mirror the same aircraft damage model. After shooting at AI routines on the ground I realized I had a wingman behind me so started to shoot him from my rear gunner. Turns out he takes way more damage than the AI routine ships. Much more in line with what the aircraft damage model represents. Still testing though.
