Took off on a heading of 130 degrees per orders. got out bound a bit slower than other scouts as I waited for the CA log in to get fixed and took off with my drones. Drones didn't catch up with me for 2 grids approx. but I horsed my Val up to 22 k when I turned 090 for a while, then north per orders. Ran into 2 cap who fortunately were only 15 k or so. Reciprocated their course turning north and followed their back track spotting the ships. Once position was broadcast and course confirmed, made my first attack divebombing from 22 k dropping 1 250 kg bomb with 2 60 kg bombs. Pulled out low over water jinking for all she was worth making south quick as I could.......got clear and transferred over to another drone ( wasn't sure where'd they'd be) They followed my course but had only descended to about 8 k whereupon I made a 2nd attack doing a vertical dive bombing attack from 8 k followed by 2 cap shooting at me the whole way, dive brakes out, stay on target ...stay on target as tracers fly by my wing, push the dive steeper with very small moves to throw off aim, dropped 1 more 25o kg bomb and 2 60 kg bombs pulling out so low I tore of a wheel and killed my engine whereupon I settled her into the water followed closely by swanee and =wilz= who augered into the water not being able to pull out of their dives for 2 maneuver kills. In my excitement I exited aircraft ending my flight instead of another transfer to drone.
Night was done.
The CA log in worked all right except that there are a small handful of planes ( even without ca log in) that don't do well keeping up....Vals being one and more than likely the sbd's if I had to hazard a guess, but that's a drone fm thing rather than a CA thing. I gave them no orders other than a small drag off a short distance whilst I made my first attack but didn't drag em to far away out of the fight.
I believe the only reason I made it close to the ships was flying at 22 k whilst cap was lower. I doubt they make that mistake again as gci guided them into my dot before I could make contact. Without making any minrender adjustments I had no trouble spotting ships from 22 k, specially cv-6 as its dark in color....the Japanese type dd's used in the routine being lighter in color were harder to spot until I got closer....
Sleepy out
