S3 Series

Field positioning of our sparse resources was based on an attack coming towards 81, 84, 87, 88.

The first squad to roll was the Knights in 109s. Allied radar contacts were mostly over their island for some time before we were allowed to scramble Lf6 in 109s or our bomber attacker 190s in the 475th and AE.

As the Allies trickled into the channel, their formation and position supported an attack in the middle of our Fortress. When they broke into the 8.5 box, the Luftwaffe was positioned with the 475th slightly offshore, AE to the north east and the 109s ready to push through the bomber group to strip the Allied escorts.

An Intel report over country channel informed that the bombers were no longer tracking South, but East. They continued this eastward path as they breeched the continent. At this point, I began to scour the map and realized I found another V1 site at 63, operational and as a possible target - a site that I had previously not realized was there.

Realizing my critical error, I scrambled the 109s to the main body, while the 190s were repositioned for a less than desirable off angle intercept.

The Knights and Lf6 engaged higher fighter escorts for a prolonged battle south and west of the traveling bomber stream. The AE 190s came through the bomber group, but were soon chased off by the Mustangs and Spitfires. The 190s of the 475th engaged enemy fighters over our shipping near Beck-Sur-Mer. They sustained loses, but managed kill credits on high valued enemy experten. They then arrived into the bomber group, but the ridiculous OTTO took its toll on our squads.

The Allied bombers hit the V1 site and surrounding infrastructures, inflicting heavy damage, but not closing the site. They egressed due north out of the target area and returned to England.

The Knights and 475 stood down after the lengthy, and admittedly, under supported first sortie, while Luftflotte 6 and AE continued on. The Allies came back with their bombers to finish closing the V1 site and surrounding towns. Lf6 engaged the bombers with a schwarm of 109s, but died to a man after only a few passes. The Allies superior numbers...more than 3:1 at this point were too much to overcome. AE's 190s were our only assets and flew valiantly for the remainder of the frame.

Aside

First, starting a series in the Summer months affects attendance and participation. I understand this is the 99th series and the desire to want to start next year with #100, but there are too many 'days off' to start a 5 frame series after Memorial Day.

Second - Bomber OTTO is absurd.
