Orders were to sneak out of S58 and hit shipping in the channel. Airframe JU88 bombs instead of Torps (I suck with torps) I launched right at T-0, tech difficulties lead to Houndg leaving 5 minutes after I did. We went to target separately, I found the first group of ships after the long flight to target. My bombing was not very accurate but I was able to relay info to houndg and he bombed with great accuracy. I believe 5 freighters were sunk, but houndg was found as he returned to base. In hindsight I should have requested rebasing in the south... but that's hindsight I was able to rtb at 69 WAY the #$(#* up north, took off with more bombs and wingmen this time (guess I needed to give points to the enemy as they served no purpose) Was on the way to shipping again when ordered to grab alt north an prepare to strike radar towers at 44. Orders is orders so I did my best to find the radar towers from 12,000 ft but was unable to find them in the bombsite. I went to the second target and dove lower. circled several times until I found the target but was jumped by hurricanes. Lost my elevator just as I was about to drop on the tower and missed totally. I survived for a while twisting and turning but was meat on the table for the enemy as there were no friendlies in the area. I do not believe that Jabodar gave me away or anything like that... I was so close to 44 that the 88s were pointing me out for a LONG time. eventually the rear fuselage was shot away and I bailed out safely. regret not finding radar towers as I had time to hit them on one pass if I had found them. Loitering looking for the target is what did me in. |

Awesome job finding them ships and sinking a few of them not to mention the long flight you guys had to endure to rtb. Always a pleasure with you guys. <{S}> |

Hats off to you guys..going in alone on deep strike is ballsy and everyone knows you pose a threat. Inflight retasking to an unprepared target area is High risk for mission failure in the best of times....make it in actively defended target area where we have already kicked the hornets nest makes it crazy:) Dobs |

Just one little bit more... Both Frame 3 & 4 the new wingman - bomber loggin was not working as it had in the past. Both frames I logged in under the combined arms bomber arena and had the "normal" interphase as if I had logged in in the old way. Wingmen in this event just seem to be points for the enemy. we have to hit specific targets so their bombs are not really relevant. N/S have the 109A fighter bomber this last frame so we will not be too much of a factor. Perhaps supporting ground attacks... |

Great effort on the remaining DAR towers at 44. Doc and I tried to take the northern DAR down but it was hidden in the trees and hard to target on an NOE run. By the time we got set up to drop we had three chitloads of Allies on us. We hoped that we had dragged all of the defenders to the deck to clear the way for you but I guess they had time to grab back out. Maybe we can get another batch of 109F4s for the last frame. <S> |
