Initial mission went off well even with the confusion we had at start.
Gums took off first for the furthest radar site (29) while the rest of us waited in tower. Targets were assigned etc etc and we eventually rolled and headed to target.
Several discos forced us to improvise but we were able to take down all the radar towers and get back to base without a loss.

Next mission was eventually ironed out as the medium airfield at 58.
Stukas started grabbing and then headed direct to target. we arrived around 13 or 15k I believe and were able to dive into targets with the fighter squads engaging everything in sight. Unfortunately one scout got into our formation and picked out Mtdew before he was run off. the rest of us were able to hit targets and exit the area only losing a few here and there. Houndg in his stuka was able to get a kill and a piece while there!

Strike package was rebased at 56 for another target ... Tac field 45 (where the tanks were battling)

Doolittle's Raiders were going to hit the airfield and satellites, houndg and I were going in lower to hit tanks. Again our fighter squads were right with us in the attack. We were able to kill 3 tanks but were immediately defensive. turn fighting in a stuka isnt fun :0 but the 475 was right behind us and I was able to scrape the ground but get back up in the air and make it home. I am not sure of how the DR did as I was not able to follow the coms at that time.

Big thanks to Darryl for getting things going and (as Gums says) "herding the cats"
Our fighter groups were exactly where they needed to be and then some .. well done all.
and finally a salute to Sakai as a leader. organizing everyone keeping them informed and making decisions is very difficult but you made it look easy last night <S>

~S~ Cool. Good writeup.

The coordinated effort within the BGs and between you all and the Fighter Squads is how we achieved our success. I salute each of you individually and as a combined group. We rarely get to work together in an S3, but we are honored to have you all flying Axis for this series. Yet again, you all took the plan and executed to perfection.

Imbibe at the O'Club...on me.

Horrido!

TNX for nice words, Sakai. We slow movers try hard to please, and most of the time we do.

We have not had so-called close escort yet, but I can feel it coming for the Dunkirk scenario. In fact, for that we can garner many ship points if we do it well.
++++++++
So senior moments were evident last night.

1) When Gums requested first takeoff for furthest tgt, it was the far west DAR for F44, not that other doofer. I should have been more clear. But wait! There's more.

2) The login for buffs was not what we saw last few frames and the dfuse had to be entered using a dot cmd on the buffer and not a scroll down thingie. Naturally, having already screwed up, forgot to set the dfuse. Occurred to me after about 15 minutes but decided to press on and go manual - "feel the force, Gums!"

3) With no dfuse ya gotta drop higher for survival and steeper for accuracy. First pass looked good and small stuff around the DAR went down ( likely MG), but antenna still up. Swinging around I spot an apparition appearing from the east - Darryl!! Second pass looked great but antenna still up. Darryl finished it off and we headed for the next one down the coast to the east. Same results and we set sail for F69 and another sortie.

Due to personal problems was late for second sortie and came home once 58 declared ours. And couldn't make final push.

Not a bad night. Not a "great" night, but a "good" night.

Herr Gums sends...

"God in your guts, good men at your back, wings that stay on - and Tally Ho!"

Thought Coolon had a great summary. FG's were in close proximity most of the night, and in support of the Stukas main strikes.

Lots of action for all....and other than the nerf guns was fun time.

Nice job Sakai as Frame CO and GCI:)

I'm with ya dobs on the night and guns. For my guns to do any good I had to push closer than d2 and was expecting to collide. Luckily that didn't happen somehow.
