All IJN aircraft are equals for the Allied plane set this series.

What do the Allied have going for them:
1) Speed at Alt--they have the edge
2) Dive Speed--they have the edge (but they are over our Country!)
3) Firepower--equal to us being stronger
4) Turning--WE have the edge
5) Climbing--WE have the edge
6) Rolling--They have the edge (USE RUDDER TO HELP ALL PLANES ROLL for IJN at Speed)

Things to think about:
P-47 holds it horsepower into the 30s.....watch it!! It can't turn but once....but it is a zooming, diving, 8 50 hitting machine!!
P-51 --is fast. One good turn....if one gets behind you, you can't run. Turn and once he is in lag..start a TURNING, slightly climbing turn...they can't match it.
F4U-4--Uber Hawg at Altitude...above 30 its wheezing. In the 20s its OK...below 20 it is in its element. ONE GOOD TURN so watch their nose...they have probably the best deflection shooting capability (gap between nose and gunsight) in the game. If you get one turning....you own him.

IJN
J2M3 is a RATE fighter..keep your speed up, keep on turning. Had one kick my ass in the F4U-4 the other night...below 20k. Use your speed, use your climb...try NOT to turn with enemy fighters...they are fast and they climb well, but require high skill to turn fight in. If you like MMA Cage fights....you are right at home looking out the cockpit.

N1K1 great all around...maneuver flaps are awesome (watch deploying at speeds..instant blackout/wing off)...good firepower but have to get less than d3 to hurt em. My convergence is set to d2 in them. Out turns em all, and as fast below 20. Won't roll great at speed (use rudder to help), and wings come off fast if you are heavy handed. 6 View is dogshit...

KI-84--great plane. Roll rate at speed is not great, but speed, climb and maneuverability are great. 6 View is Great. Boost 2 will overheat your engine faster than a Jug loses altitude in a dive!! Use it sparingly, and ONLY when you have to live or Kill. If you are offensive...keep it in Boost 1.

ALL BOOSTS SHOULD BE CHECKED IN THE HUD FOR ENGINE PERCENTAGE!! If you are not seeing an increase in %...DON'T USE IT!! RAM air affects Boost...so if you get slow and your boost % falls off, pick up speed again to get that extra boost.

What is going to win this series? Those who work best as a team....the team who communicates best, supports each other etc....is the one which kept coming out on top in our Squad practices....regardless of the plane set.

If you have not been flying these rides (and they are not your normal rides)....you need to start flying these rides.

The FM's that the S3 uses are ONLY in the ACE arena (the new one)...the MA has a different FM. Just an FYI.

RCAF PM for our TS password.

CO's please take a look at Besea's thread about TS channel....

I would like to reiterate two things:

Drive in close to kill with IJN cannon. Penetration is low so you need to be as close as you can can be before you open fire.

Watch your Boost and temperature in the HUD. Don't use boost if your throttle percentage isnt above 100% or if you dont need the power.

N1K1- You shouldn't be high in the N1K1 but above 20K Both Boost levels really drop off below 160 mph INDICATED AIRSPEED. You lose ram air effects below this speed, reducing your power.

Ki84-You want to be above 146 mph INDICATED AIRSPEED to get maximum benefit from ram air effects. Temperature rise is 70 degrees per minute in Boost 2. This gives you about 1 minute of Boost 2 on an engine you havent heated up using Boost 1. If you climb in Boost 1 to 35,000 and then kick in Boost 2 you will have much less than a minute before overheat.

J2M-Ram air speeds are 160 MPH IAS in Boost 1 and 140 MPH IAS in Boost 2

Engines will only cool off when unboosted and there is a delay. If you wait until 140 degrees to start cooling you will likely still get an OVERHEAT warning and very probably damage. If you wait until the OVERHEAT WARNING you WILL get a damaged engine before it cools off below 140.

Thanks for the information Dobs and Dawger. I am always impressed with your knowledge of the aircraft performance and nuances in the game. I find it very helpful in learning. <S>
