The 4th Fighter Group launched 8 pilots in the Italian C 200 with drop tanks to CAP south of 110. Bombr- provided GCI. We then proceeded to 117 to cover Hawk with our bomber strike. The strike was successful and we headed back to 110 to intercept allied bombers approaching from the south. We jumped several formations of B-25s and shot down four with 1 loss. Their escorts did not seem to want to come down to us and with the bombers at low altitude they were easy pickings. 2nd sortie launched from 110 with 100kg bombs to attack 141. We dropped 16 and closed about half the targets, then turned north to intercept more enemy bombers approaching from the east. Scored several kills with only Robert a loss by ramming from an Allied Hurry. 3rd sortie we upped with drops to again CAP 110. We eventually headed east and north to kill one group of B-25s with AI, but enemy regressed when they found themselves engaged by both 4th and 352nd. 4th sortie we again when heavy to 141 and took out 8 of remaining 15 targets. Hawk's bombers arrived and finished the job. Bottom line, our critical mission to keep 110 open was a complete success. Salute!
