Let's start chatting all..

One thought I have is that we seem to really get the points by sinking ships. How about I send the 88's in on several areas and sink them. We had such a low turn out with the Knights and this may be a way to use them and get a of points. Plus it's memorial weekend and not sure how many pilots we are going to have.

We will have to see what the map is. The allies should have a foothold on Sicily and who knows where more ships will be to go after. They could easily have fighter coverage near them. I was hoping you guys would use the 88s last frame so we wouldn't have to use them in close proximity to Allied areas. My thoughts are to ignore ships all together, unless they are part of the ports as static shipping.

We really aren't getting very many points on AI ships because we keep nullifying their worth with losses. Frame two we achieved way more hitting ground targets and ships attached to it as well as successful air to air. Depending on what they take for ground targets this frame, those small, easily killable targets are worth more than a couple AI. Don't get fixated on ships IMHO.

Those 88's may have some captured locations for your guys to hit, not just ships. Wait for his frame summary to come out and seeing the map you will be dealing with.

I would certainly agree that the ability to see the map in play for Frame 3 is the only way to be certain of the Allied abilities for Frame 3.
EDIT:
10. Frame 4 -5 - the allies continue to expand their hold on sicily and airfields are now available on the island to support their invasion.
Closer reading of ALL of the Rules would indicate that there will not be Allied air bases on Sicily in Frame 3.

It will be interesting to see if the Axis effort of Frame 2 to thwart the Invasion is taken into account. Namely, a number of beachheads DESTROYED. A number of landed GVs DESTROYED. Cargo ships at anchor DESTROYED. Supply lines interrupted or DESTROYED.
EDIT:
OTOH, if the Allies are given " a number of nearby locations that may be attacked by the Axis along with the invasion beachheads." It just gives us the opportunity we had to score some points before the bad guys can get to the island. The Frame 3 Commander just has more choices of what can be taken out quickly for the maximum of points.

One thought I had Hawk, pre map being out, is to stay flexible like we've been doing to excellent results.

They have been using a Big Wing setup so far, on a huge map. That leaves 1% of the map full of their guys,
stacked at various alts, and the rest of the map wide open. We hammered the wide open targets over and over at
their beach heads last frame, staying busy piling up points, waiting for fighter duty. Once they finally showed up, we
switched our bombs for drop tanks and flew out to engage them late in the frame.

Of course, now it's a new map setup and will be a different CO. I'd guess they would be much less passive frame 3, as
this series is fast slipping away from them. Just stay flexible, read the dar, keep your buffs and jabos busy in safe open areas. The fighters
we have are top line, and are ready if and when the targets show up.

Here is a thought and some information I need.

Not know the map it's hard to decided what assets to use. I am thinking and this can change, but have the Knights in 88's with the Knights escorts off in a safe distance. If Jmand and Madcat is going to join us again, I would like to see them in 190's again and WildBill said he wanted to hang with us this time. I can send them off hitting static ships.

See how the AI's are worthless, lets stay away from them.

Observations on the southern Front:
The Allies have bases for six steps of aircraft on the island.
All Axis central-eastern bases are on Allied radar. All of available Allied fields are on Axis radar. In the entire S-E region, everybody knows what the other guys are doing.
Axis attacks on shipping within 50 miles of southern Sicily are on Allied radar but not on Axis radar.
Allied radar extends approx. 50 miles into the center of Sicily from the "front".
F99 shows as closed.
