Operation Scheutzen Skootzen

Objective is to hit targets fast and leave the area before Aillied force mount a defense. Avoid prolonged contact with the enemy unless you have the upperhand. I've split LF 6 for mission importance but it also opens up LAF44 for rebasing considerations.

Fighters

JG 352-SAF48(2 steps), GAF91(1 step)
1st Sortie fly SW to the Gulf of Tunis area. Your mission is to cause as much distraction as possible while the Knights ingress to 199. Take targets of opportunity. You will be on enemy dar for about 50mi to the coast. It is your call to fly above or under it. Please call out 10min from approaching radar for Knights launch. Coordinate with LF 6 for support.

2nd Sortie consider loading up to destroy the convoy from the west. Other opportunities may arise between the first and second sortie so be flexible.

LF 6- SAF 42 (2 steps), Silver(JG 77) on GAF217 (1 step, Lempedusa)
1st Sortie fly SW to the Gulf of Tunis area. Your mission is to cause as much distraction as possible while the Knights ingress to 199. Take targets of opportunity. You will be on enemy dar for about 50mi to the coast. It is your call to fly above or under it. Please call out 10min from approaching radar for Knights launch. Coordinate with JG 352 for support.

I've tasked JG 77 with taking as much points as possible from the southern convoy. They will rejoin the fight over Tunisia after the first sortie.

2nd Sortie consider loading up to destroy the convoy from the west. Other opportunities may arise between the first and second sortie so be flexible.

Bombers
Knights-MAF157( 3 steps)
1st Sortie. Depot199 and other targets of opportunity. Unless circumstances change or fighters coordinate a different time, please set Launch Time to T+10. I want you guys hitting the coast a little after the fighters start making a fuss.

Remember, your fighter component must fly the 109G, MC 202, or MC 205.

2nd Sortie. Reload for convoy destruction (recommend the various gun options on the 190 if flying. Depending on circumstances consider 154 as an attack option as well.

General Notes
*Radar is 300ft (91m)
*Overheat is in effect with engine damage! Watch those temps!
*Pantelleria is a refuel option for extended operations on the way back to Sicily if you need to use fuel reserve.
* I have attached the in flight map with radar ranges included for both enemy and friendly dar for reference.

FWIW Dept.
The new OVERHEAT feature (found in the AFMA) does not seem to be present in the S3 Arena. (Did NOT test the bad guys' new P-40) I ran the Macchi 202 VII up to 143 degrees oil temperature at which point the engine "normally" shut down the WEP and then continued to operate normally on 100% indicated power.

Sir, you were certainly correct about the "overheat" feature. When flight tests were done IN the S3 Arena prior to the event, it was not present, and the indicated results were observed. As I would like it if our flight testers did not do useless work to observe various results which, later, prove to be invalidated, can you please tell us how you got the information? I was of the obviously erroneous impression that "engine overheat" is a AFMA Arena setting which makes it a Beta setting. In my personal wildest imagination I would not have thought that the setting would have been enabled for any aircraft other than for the new P-40 model that the Allies had available, which happens to be a Beta test airframe.

I was operating under the assumption that the AFMA and the S3 were to have the same FM/damage file all the time (don't know if this is an FM thing). The MA has the engine damage, or at least had it when engine damage was announced. It is not tied to an certain plane as I killed the engine in the Hurri I in the Main a few nights back. That FM hasn't been touched in a long time.

LF 6 found, however, that WEP only burned out like it used to when we flew the MC202. The better question is how did 2 fighter groups end up with opposite results from what they were expecting in the same arena?
