I thought it ironic that at least one of the Zeros that didn't come back went down due to target fixation.
He was so focused on strafing a person that he hit the ground and tore off his drop tank and bent his propeller blades. pulled out of it but couldn't keep it in the air.

Sounds like something only in Warbirds... but no.
