They could go two ways with tactics, 1. As mentioned before they stack and offer more fighter protection down low and well in advance of their bombers 2. And If I was the Allied CO, they know they own the high ground, if they can convince the bombers to drop the MA NOE shenanigans. They could, with Norden sights, all come in at a much higher altitude. Unless they plan on using Torps. Bombers guys seem to always get their way over on the allied side so my gut says our frame 2 plan will work. However, it is still a possibility they fly right over us.

Roll is optional. You can wait until they appear on dar or are sighted 15 miles offshore. TBDs were all on torp runs in Frame 1. F6Fs used rockets and guns on the ships to take down a few.
If you can shoot down a TBD or SBD with bufftuff of 1.5 then the zeke guns are fine. They are way stronger damage wise than the F6F even without the bufftuff. So I think its a matter of the bbs hitting and the cannon not on the F6Fs.

IJN did much better in the last half staying inside the ring and using Truk flak to pinpoint the low or higher enemy as the mass once inbound to Truk looked all the same on dar.

It absolutely can't hurt to roll our 12 early scouts at t=0. That gives us an early high presence. Just keep them climbing inside the atoll, do not send them east of the atoll under any circumstances. They are our high guys in our stacked defense who can drop in when needed lower down. They just need the discipline not to engage the F6F hordes at 35,000 ft. where they have no chance.

CV radar is set by the arena settings so 50 miles.

F6F and A6M5a numbers should be fairly even depending on turnouts.
