Rolled at t+0 and patrolled as the orders required. Eventually we headed south to the 54 area where there were reports of enemy contacts with the 23rd. When we got there we saw the 23rd headed the other way and soon realized they were being followed by multiple cons at a lower altitude. The 23rd reversed and we assumed that they were heading back to engage with us. We spiraled down to engage and were able to dispatch two F4Fs but were quickly outnumbered and realized that we had misinterpreted the 23rd's intentions when they reversed. Had there been more of us actually engaged we would probably have had a much better outcome. This is a mistake that will not be repeated in the future.

SUMMARY
10 pilots
19 sorties
10 safe landing(s)
9 airframe(s) lost ( 9 x A6M3 *)
7 pilot(s) KIA
2 taken POW
3 victories
1 assist(s)

My bad Brair, I had set a hard deck of 25K wanting to get the wildcats climbing to give us an advantage. Of course the 352nd didn't bite and after last frame I wasn't going to commit the group down where they wanted to play. Below 20K and they have all the advantages.

We figured that with our combined groups we had at least equal numbers and possibly better along with the altitude advantage. That and the fact that we had an opportunity to possibly reduce their effectiveness for the rest of the frame prompted us to go for the engagement not realizing that you had placed the hard deck at 25k. Check out Jlord's video in the General Forum of their engagement with us if you would like to see it from their perspective.

Briar anytime hit us up on our TAC 23. We were using our fuel advantage and alt to find the right moment to strike. Knowing they would gas up heavy and re launch was going to be our time. This is how this looked Briar, main group of allied was egressing an we had over 30 enemies below us. We shadowed them also knowing north of field 53 was the rest of the 352nd with alt. We would not be caught in the hammer and anvil again by these guys. They ran two elements this frame knowing we could not effect them anyway. With knowing the two elements we were not going to drop into the landing light Wildcats knowing within less than 2 min the hammer would come down. 23rd did not/nor will not just leave a squad to die, but lately there has been way to much main arena flying in the S3 to many LeeRoy Jenkins. Comms would have prevented all of this. You guys are stand up dudes if at anytime you want to wing up just hit us up on TAC 23. <S>
