FRAME 5 - THE CONTINUATION WAR -AXIS (Finnish) June-Sept 1944

Airmen,

Negotiations with Western Powers and the Soviets are being conducted intermittently.
However no agreement has yet been reached.
As a result the Soviets have opened a powerful offensive against our positions on the Karelian Isthmus and in the Lake Ladoga area.
The soviets have broken through our lines and now threaten the very survival of Finland.
Russians continue to bomb the capital of Helsinki.
For now our troops, with the help of German forces, have foiled the Russian advance beyond the original 1940 boundaries.

However the Germans wont help us for long, they have their own problems. Their advance into Russia has been halted.
They have suffered a terrible defeat at Stalingrad and their siege of almost 900 days on Leningrad has now been broken.
The Soviets will continue to fight as long as they are gaining territory.
We must therefore fight to halt the Soviet advance, so the peace talks can continue.



Mission objectives.

To stop the Soviet advance, close airfields F25 and F18.
Protect Helsinki from the continued Russian bombing. (protect 77, 65, 4)
Push back the front by closing F52, F53, F58, F75, F74 and F70
