The 4th lifted with 13 and set out to get in front of the attackers and over the RN. The Allies sent fighters straight at our bomb group so we reversed and engaged. The rest was a furball until we noted all our bombers were gone. We then climbed to the 9,8 to RZ with the bomber 2nd mission and repeat. Finally several of us were shot down so upped on 2nd mission with Kates and Torps. Flew NOE to attack the RN trailing ships from the west. Got torps off and was killed by AAA, torps missed fore and aft. Re-upped for 3rd sortie in Ki-43 and headed to cover our bombers on their final attack. Engaged RAF and made several kills then RTBed into 9 at frame end. <S> bombr-
