1)The Main should not be changed. - Agreed.

2)Password Protect WWII with the option to change the PW as needed. I believe the squads can police the arena for gate crashers. - For now, agreed. There are a handful of lone-wolf griefers in the Main who I think need to be sent a message. Jacbob comes to mind.

3)Squads only. Guests may fly with a squad, but may not fly rogue flights. Nobody will be turned down as long as they agree to the rules of the arena. - Same as previous.

4)Mirror the S3 settings. - NO! The S3's are special and should remain so. I like the idea of S3-similar settings, but exact plane sets and maps I do not agree with. S3 rides should always be a subset of the available planes, but not the entire set. I also would prefer to see S3 similar terrains but not the same terrain.

5)No kill shooter. - Sounds good.

6)No aircraft dar inflight. Dar is limited to twr and GCI. Twr dar also limited in scope, GCI should have blind spots. - I like the donut radar that has been in place so far.

7)Reduced ground vehicle use or none at all. - For the love of God, please yes!

8)Squads will rotate axis/ally weekly or as many times as CO's see fit. - 352nd will rotate as needed.

9)Squads will monitor inappropriate buffer usage and discipline members internally. If members continue to misuse buffer, they will be placed on a 24 hour arena ban. - Good idea.

10)Each Squad will need someone to have basic permissions in that arena (trainer or CM if they have one, CO or designated Rep if CO doesn't fly enough to warrant having them). - As mentioned, likely unworkable.

11)Should be able to enable/disable field use. - See above.

12)Should be able to enable/disable plane use. - See above.

13)Respawn time of pilots should be adjustable. A dead pilot may have to wait an undetermined amount of time before he/she can respawn. - I think this should be considered if suicide bombing becomes an issue. For now, I don't like the idea.

14)Should be able to "remove" someone from the arena if they are not "conforming to the rules" and they don't have a CO to prohibit such behavior. - Agreed.

15)Everything else needs to be in the hands of CM's to prevent screwing things up from inexperience. - Yep.

for the record, you cannot kick people out, monitor the arena, and in general have SOME cm privs, its either all or none as far as cm goes. If anyone did have those privs and is monitoring the arena, then all seeingdar is on for the co of the squad that does have its privs. He may be honorable and wont tell, but it doesn't stop the thought of.......(he is cheating) ( I hear it all the time ya know). Save yourself the grief of accusation of tweeking settings to help yourself and all that
There are VERY good reasons for restricting cm privs, not that I am on a job protection thingy etc, but am well aware of the ramifications of several people having these privs.
It would be horrible for the guys in that position....take my word on that

I believe we are over-thinking the way this arena should be set up and used. I believe what we are trying to achieve is a more historical type of setting where we can fly in a more historical manner and expect the same out of the rest of the participants. We want to get away from the MA mindset and the constant trash talking on channel 100. If we just spend time in there as squads and let newcomers know what the arena is all about it may get more support than we think even from some who aren't attached to a squad for whatever reason.

Unfortunately I had to go out of town right after our conference call so last night was the first time I have gotten into the arena since we started this thing but it was quite a bit of fun while I was there. We had two groups of combatants working in separate areas, one was conducting squad training ops and the other was basically fur balling, some of us in our potential S3 rides. After it was known that one fighter group wanted to be left alone to conduct their training they were pretty much left to do so with the exception of a few who arrived later and had to be told what was happening. All in all it seems to be off to a good start.

Off Topic: Even tho we are mirroring the S3, I would like to see special events in the WWII arena also. I still would like to see a Japan scenario with "The bomb".

Another spin on the War of Japan. The bomb has been developed. It is enroute to Iwo Jima or Okinawa. There will be two fleets. Only one fleet will carry the bomb to its destination. The Japanese will have find the fleet with the bomb and sink the freighter carrying it. Once the fleet reaches its destination, then the bomb is in play. Only one B29 can carry it. The Japanese must destroy this B29 before it reaches an undisclosed destination. In the event the freighter is destroyed or the B29 is destroyed the fleet will be reset and the bomb will be in play again once it reaches its destination. This may be the same fleet or the other, it will vary on each reset. Every thirty minutes after a bomb has been dropped or destroyed, the fleet will reach its destination and the bomb will be in play again. The bomb will be a Tall Boy with enhanced abilities to completely destroy any target it is dropped on whether it be a town, large field, or port. It will also yield a higher damage plum (to be decided later) so make certain your at the correct alt when you are in the area or your dead too. Japan will have some of their best ac to fly in this scenario. Only 2 B29's may be airborne at once. They can fly together or separate. They can be escorted by any number of fighters, However, Iwo and Oki must be defended also. If Japan closes these bases they are out of play for the rest of the scenario. The fleets also must be protected while delivering their cargo.

A more modern war scenario with A-67's, FA18's, B29's and Drones. This war will be in the WWII Arena, Japan Terrain. The last time we tried A67's the ordinance/guns did no damage to ground targets or A/C. hopefully that has been resolved. A/C dar range will be set to the max distance of SideWinder's. GCI will have a larger dar range. One life in the manned a/c and then one life in a drone. After that your dead, go to the Main. You have to fly manned ac first. Details can be worked out by others.

We could even have a single destroyer that can only fire the torpedoe tubes as a Jap sub. This will have to be a manned ship.
