Seems like very frame when I parse the logs there are roughly a dozen instances of field warping. Almost all are ignored as it becomes apparent in the logs that the offending pilot immediately lands and fixes the error. However, there was a recent change in the game (about 3 to 5 series now) where the system changes your default location to the field that you land. So if you take off from field 1 and land at field 99, the system moves you to field 99 and you do not need to reselect. You just fly. Of course this is a computer program and there are instances where it doesn't work correctly, so you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that you take off from the correct field. Just remember that if you need to take off from any field that you land. |

There's some discussion about this on the frame 1 thread. We are wondering if some of the fields in this terrain actually have overlapping safe landing zones. So, you land at F1, but at the end of it's runway, you are closer to F2. If an exit puts you in F2, you should go back to F1 to take off. I witnessed 2 of these in Frame 1 where the pilots ditched along the runway, but when exited were put in the nearby village. Also, you will see some Haze field warps as we discovered F88 had a sticky runway and got Jabo permission to warp to the field next door (for the few that were able to land successfully). |

Good to know. Seems like there were more than expected this last frame. |

Seems rather a rather silly rule in a terrain with "fields" close enough together to be considered one base complex with multiple runways, especially with the compressed horizontal distance making them very close together. |

I have not noticed particularly close adherence to several rules, bomber AI formation in particular. |

My understanding is that no one is being penalized for field warps so far this series when it involves the fields mentioned with their close proximity. This was entirely intended as a public service announcement to encourage people to be extra careful this series, and as a reminder to the CO's to cover this topic again with some of their newer players: - Take off from the field that you landed. - The system should take care of this for you. -- There might be bugs in this terrain with some of the fields stacked so closely together. - If you realize a mistake - whether yours or the games - do your best to fix it. Simply landing and moving to the correct field is sufficient. - The vast majority of mistakes that are flagged in the logs have been corrected by the players doing the right thing, and are therefore ignored/not penalized/not even mentioned. For example, a quick sortie in the wrong plane after disco, where the player recognizes the mistake and immediately lands/corrects it, is not penalized. - Teleporting that involves two fields a significant distance from the other where an advantage was gained will still be penalized. Again, just a friendly reminder. The fewer flagged incidents that we have to go through when parsing the logs ensures a quicker turn-around on posting the logs. |
