New Map and inflight DDS for Frame 2.

The Soviet Invasion of the Kerch area was a success with little damage to the ships unloading marines. The Axis have withdrawn west to the narrowest point of the Kerch Isthmus. In the north VVS Il2 Sturmoviks were massacred and the front could not budge across into Crimea without proper air support.

Expect to see less Soviet shipping off Kerch and more Axis ships leaving the Crimea. Ju52 airlifts have also increased from the major centres in the rear.

Only part score up, waiting on the S6 to score the a/c kills, parked a/c and static shipping.

Good Luck planning Frame 2 - will monitor the forums for any questions. Newbies give Frame COing a shot.

Issues;

1. Comms have been fixed, Spindz corrected the issue.
2. AI a/c were made of paper, much easier to shoot down than expected. Will try to improve their damage strength in following frames. Adjusted their point values to reflect this.
3. Sticky grass reported at 8, 252 and 261. Not sure I can fix it for frame 2, away this weekend. Please check the different spawn points.
4. Dawger wrote a great script but it was running when we had to delay for the comms, so some ships were way out of position and AI a/c arrived immediately on roll without any cover. Should be more realistic next frame.
5. Some plane-AI limits exceeded in particular areas that may have made FE updates a bit erratic. Will try and spread the AIs out more.

The .pdf Planning Map on the Janitor's site will give most COs and Flight Planners a better idea of what will be happening in Frame 2. Note that the "front" has moved to the West.

Happy trails...

hold the phonehere a sec. Sure the ai came down a bit easy, but the VVS did NOT defend the assets the 23rd were tasked to destroy. They could have been harder, but it would not have changed how many we shot down. We had all day and all our ammo to do this and no VVs defenders. they flew at 2 k, really slow 2 at a time. 1 routine, rest of them being shut off. Their hardness would not have made ANY difference to the outcome that was achieved. The 23rd flew all night and only had a momentary contact with 3 human players toward the end of the frame. We had our orders, we executed them and filled in the gaps with strikes taking advantage of a tactical move by the VVS to overwhelm the LW at one specific point leaving themselves vulnerable to exactly what happened.
I protest the changing of the points awarded for the above reasons ( respectfully of course)

If I can correct the AIs we will go back to the original score. We will see in Frame 2 if its possible to make AIs damage realistic.

Coming from one of the pilots who were shooting these AI, they were not exactly paper. However, this would not have been and issue if the VVS would have had ANY sort of presence in the area. The hardness should matter not as this is a multi front battle zone and if one side chooses to leave an area undefended then they should pay the price if they fail to cover their entire pool of assets. Everyone knew what was worth what before the frame started and still the VVS did not plan or shift assets to the North. Taking away the points only validates a poor plan and inspires no one to consider all the battle ground and all their assets.

When the frame started you had at least three routines running up there. After the 23rd shot them down a couple of times only one was left on. So in fact you tried during the frame to limit the scoring of the frame. Even with the last remaining routine left running the 23rd still had enough FREEDOM from enemy forces to easily take down the two AI formations with the considerable assets they had present.

In previous serious, one in particular I can recall, there was no adjustments made for the scoring of AI even when the squadrons destroyed over 100 of them in a single frame. It was chalked up to poor planning and the side not covering those assets lost the frame and eventually the series. Why now is the decision to cut the point in half being made?

Also I would like to say that the field that those paper planes closed happened before the 23rd could even get in the area. Are the points for fields being closed by those AI going to adjusted? That field closed way to easy. If you adjust for one area concerning the AI you should adjust all areas equally.

I think you are making a poor decision. Make them harder, sure, but don't take away the efforts of so many because of an oversight by the other side.

Good point Chunk. Because of the delay in TO for us, those ai's got to target and closed it before we could even get halfway there. Are THOSE points being adjusted?
I'll restate the position. The hardness of the ai's in the last frame is of NO consequence. It would not have changed a thing. The VVS elected to plan an attack that left the north vulnerable. It cost em. The delay in take off because of comms allowed the VVs drones to close one of our bases before we could even get into any position, until today, I hadn't thought about it. Now, it seems that our efforts/results, are to be curtailed? I cannot in good conscience go along with this.

Well as a VVS pilot I can only say the 23rd sure have a point. We left the IL-2s for dead, and shouldn't really get away with it. Even a 2-step squad up north would have severly limited how many Ais the 23rd could kill, as the 23rd either A) Would have to engage the fighters instead of digesting unprotected strikers, or B) Attack the strikers and in turn be jumped from above by the protecting Yak-3s.
