Both sides had won two frames each going into the final frame. The Axis decided to put all their eggs in an attack on the centre and eastern fronts while the allies split between west and east. Initial attacks by hurricanes was successful in the west with 117 and 141 being closed quickly. The axis attack took longer to develop but 122 was closed and 153 heavily damaged. There was no axis activity in the west so the hurricanes were soon back taking out 142 and 139. A swordfish attack on 154 was intercepted and though some damage was done the target was not closed with at least 6 swordfish falling to 109s and friendly bombs. Axis jabo attacks continued throughout the night on bridge spans in the centre and east and 153 was closed later in the frame. Success was all in the west for the allies with 113 and 119 strafed down by persistent hurricane attacks. In all the allies closed 6 locations to the axis 2.

The air battle was again in the allied favour with fighter on fighter action showing a marked allied superiority of 27 confirmed kills to 9 losses. Of the allied hurricane kills 5 were 110s, 11 were 109s and 11 were Ki43s. Allied losses were primarily Hurricane 2Bs.

The allies win the final frame and go on to win the series 286 to 218. The main difference between the two sides was in the air fight with the 3 to 1 ratio of kills to losses by the allies. Generally this shows the sides were not balanced properly or there was some obvious plane mismatches.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and fighting it out in the new Greece terrain. It really does help to get rid of bugs and make a better terrain. Feedback is always welcome and should be posted in the terrain forum so it can be followed up easily.

Have a great summer and get ready to rumble after Labour day. Year 17 of the squad select series.
