Post subject:  S3 Practice Setup and other stuff

Hello All,

I will setup the Instant Action Arena for S3 plane practice for short periods.

It will feature remote air starts and timed rounds with a short break between. Sides will be split, Axis/Allied.

The timed rounds will cycle through the expected match ups.

This is purely meant to give everyone an opportunity to practice in the aircraft with S3 like settings.

My goal is to make it available Thursday and Saturday nights at 10 PM Eastern

Also, I will be varying the setups in the WWII arena to give players the opportunity for historic match ups without the Main Arena distractions of GV's and a war to win.

I have a setup for tonight that features the P38J, P47D, Typhoon, and P51B versus the 109G Series and 190A and F series. Allies have rear based bombers if anyone wants to get up raid. Come in and seed the arena if you don't see anyone there

The terrain is Tunisia but please try to ignore that.

Just need to make sure the MA object files are set properly as there are some new target classes in the new terrains.

Instant Action Arena will run the Heroes of Greece fighter practice setup at 10 PM Eastern this evening.

It will feature Hurri I and IIb for Green and Bf-109E4, Bf-110 C-4 and MC200 for Red.

It will rotate through different matchups on a five round cycle. 10 minute rounds, 2 minutes between rounds.

There is a map draw file to show the fight area over the water (Malta terrain is what is in use in IAA). You will need to insert the following command in your fly2.cfg to execute the mapdraw (it is available for in game download on channel 67 prior to each round)

Remote air starts are used. The two sides spawn in 12 miles apart, at 20,000 feet. Fuel divider is set so that 100% fuel will last 12 minutes to simulate the heavy fuel loads common in S3.

S3 icons or close to it.

No radar (Which is why you need the fight box drawn by the map draw.)

I hope you all enjoy and let me know if there are any issues. It will run 10 rounds and then revert the arena to its normal setup. Every matchup will run twice.

This is a great opportunity for the squads that wanted to help with plane matchups to give feedback based on straight duels. Good to keep notes because these FMs will be changing in the future.
