All, My computer crashed so I thought it would be a good time to go to Windows 7. The problem is things run slower now and choppy. I have 4 gigs of RAM and a nVidia 450 card. I can't remember my video card settings to help things out. I am only getting 7 fps now where I use to get 40 to 50 fps. Any help is appreciated. I found going from XP to Windows 7 meant I needed more RAM to do the same things. go figure |

Make sure you're running at the same resolution as you were under the old OS. If you're running @ 1080p under Win7 and were 1280x1024 under XP that would make a huge difference. Guessing you're running Socket 775 on that. You should be able to upgrade the processor to something with a little more kick. One of these should work which would give you some additional life to that system: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-E8400-Proce ... socket+775 I wouldn't spend more than $50 on it though. Much more than that and you're better off putting it towards a new system. Your video card is also getting pretty long in the tooth. One of these would be another great upgrade: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_ ... Caps%2C352 The comparisons: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/513/In ... Thanks all. I just noticed, I am running dx11 and not 9c. I thought I installed 9c. Could this be a problem? |

dx9 is required for WB I believe. might also want to check the vid card drivers as well. I was having problems until I figured that one out. |

I had to install DX 9C when I loaded Windows 7 on my new system. However my system still shows DX 11 installed when I use the DirectX diagnostic tool. <S> |

I was thinking about that too but I was under the impression that Warbirds wouldn't even run if you didn't have 9.0C installed. Thanks everyone. I am going to install a video card GeForce 9800 GTX that Gben gave me a while back and it's pretty cool. Now I have to wait for the budget to upgrade some goodies. Being retired my all mighty bucks only goes so far. LOL I'll keep you posted. <S> |
