Post subject: | S3 #124 FAER Frame 4 Scoring |
Axis remains dominate in A-A fighting and Allies are still blowing up more stuff. Numbers remain light at 23 Allied to 10 Axis. Allied numbers included one unaffiliated newbie (godirt) and kingat of the Knights who should have been flying axis. Doolittle's Raiders did not participate. That was disappointing. All offending Allied pilots flew their penalty planes. One Axis pilot, -guns-, did not make an appearance and will still be required to fly a MC200 in frame 5. Allied Air-to-mud destroyed bridge spans on both supply lines south for F134 and F136, effectively isolating all Axis fields south of the bridges. F120 remained closed from the last frame and Allies closed F119. Axis closed F118, blocking the Allied supply line from the west of F119/F120, but the supply line from the east through F122 remained open. F119 and F120 are ruled as captured by the Allies. F118 is "in supply" and will reopen as Allied at the start of Frame 5. Air-to-mud activities earned the Allies 29 VPs. Axis efforts earned them 13.25 VPs. Of note, a creative allied strike pilot had determined there were bridge spans NW of F117 that were in the combat zone, but not part of the cluster of structures that represented the rail yard. Damage caused by these attacks is considered valid. Allied aircraft losses remain extreme. 21 Spitfires, 5 Kittyhawks and 10 Hawks were lost to all causes. 21 pilots were killed with 10 captured. Axis losses were light; 4 MC205s, 3 MC202s and 2 Bf-110s. 7 Axis pilots were killed. Frame 4 Scoring Axis........100.25 Allied........52.0 Axis victory. Axis lead the series 537.5 to 392 VPs. Luftwaffe Intelligence has intercepted communications indicating Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Tedder, Commander Mediterranean Air Command, is not happy with the loss of local air superiority over Sicily and has ordered the temporary suspension of ground attacks by fighter aircraft. Field-Marshal Kesselring could not be more pleased, but is concerned about possible Allied use of heavy bombers to support the ground battle. Plane set for Frame 5 to be announced later in the week. Expect a mix of LW/RA and CAF/USAAF types on both sides. |
