The Hammer of the Luftwaffe fell on Great Britain with opening strikes against radar facilities and the fields of 6 and 18. Mininmal damage was done to radar station Rye and radar facilities for fighter Command continued to operate throughout the day.
The major effort fell on the airfields with large formations of German bombers winging thier way across the channel with heavy fighter escort. fierce attacks by fighter command ranged all throughout the bombers but with only minor damage done as the bombs rained down upon the airfield.
Fortune favored both sides as very minor damage was done to both airfields and bomber formations as both sides retired to thier respective fields to rearm, refuel and give it another go.
Following attacks by aggressive German bombers targeted shipping along the coast and within the port of Dover doing heavy damage to Royal Navy ships and commercial shipping.
They paid a heavy price with many German bombers going into the drink but at heavy cost to RAF fighter Command as the day drew to a bloody close.
While reducing the number of Royal Navy ships to defend the channel area Fighter Command fields remain open as they hurridly rush replacements up from reserves as they brace for the secound round.
