Frame Two Sunday, May 19, 2019 S3 Furball-O-Rama Pearl Harbor Scenario Pearl Harbor – December 7, 1941 · We will use the full Pearl Harbor Terrain. However, realization will primarily focus most of the attention in the area of Pearl Harbor on Oahu. While designed to simulate the original battle action at Pearl Harbor, this scenario will include the opportunity for Allied planes to harass Japanese Naval forces if desired or possible. · Axis (Japanese) primary objective: Cripple American Naval forces in and around Pearl Harbor. · Allied (American) primary objective: Protect all Army and Naval assets stationed in and around Pearl Harbor. · To encourage and enhance historic realism the following actions will receive bonus scoring o Allied or Axis ships sunk with torpedo attacks or dive-bombing action using appropriately designated aircraft. o To balance the targets of opportunity advantage of Axis forces, Allied team will receive bonus points for all shipping not destroyed during the frame. Game Rules (overall for all frames) · Basic game rules as used will be the same regarding, number of allowed deaths, kills, teleporting, ground action curfew, etc. · The major difference is that each new frame will have a new scenario and each team will switch sides. · Teams will be identified by assigned colors and not Axis/Allied for scoring purposes. · Teams that are traditionally side specific will be asked to switch normal affiliations when necessary in a side switch. · Bomber specific squads (only Doolittle's now) will always be assigned to the side that has a primary offensive posture, and therefore, may or may not switch sides with each new frame. Side balance will be adjusted accordingly when this is necessary. · Bonus scoring opportunities will be scenario specific and announced in the week prior to the frame. Game rules specific to this frame only · The one plane one life rule will be modified for this frame because of the limited number of aircraft assigned each side. Plane sets will designate which planes can be flown more than once. However, no matter the plane used, pilots will still only have three lives. · Radar was limited at this time in the Pacific Theater. Historically, the island of Oahu had only 5 working radar stations. For this frame all radars for both teams will be set equal. Team Assignments for Frame Two (While historic numbers favor the Japanese, for the game, numbers parady is attempted as faily as possible) RED TEAM ALLIED (American) total pilots: 27 JG 51/Tainan Kokutai - Luftflotte 6 - 5 23rd FG -6 AE Composite Wing (A#, Nights of NI) -11 JG 51 Afrika -1 RCAF 127 Wing -4 GOLD TEAM AXIS (Japanese) total pilots: 26 4th FG -11 352nd FG -8 69 Composite Wing -1 8th FG -2 Doolittle's Raiders -4 Plane sets Red Team - U.S.A. #42 - P-40B (x2) #112 - P-36C #34 – SBD Dauntless (not historically accurate but necessary to balance a/c numbers) Gold Team - Japan #5 - A6M2 Zero (x3) #32 - D3A1 Val #33 - B5N2 Kate FINAL INFORMATION No map is included with this communique based on the familiarity of the terrain. The Allied shipping placement is not completely set. Once finished a screen shot will be sent to all squadron commands. The Japanese task force will be the only moving AI used in this frame set up. Its location will be provided to Axis command leaders in a team specific email later today. |

Will the axis get some measure of surprise for the first wave of attacks? Otherwise there is little hope of reaching Pearl before being intercepted by a large number of fighters. Numbers parity is a significant advantage for the Allies. Can we have more details on point scoring? Axis focus should be on CVs (if present) or the PACFLT in Pearl. Last Pearl scenario had the Axis pecking at the north shore. Fine if IJN had won at Midway and was invading, but not close to what the objectives of the Pearl Harbour attack were. ---------- Edited for bad grammar. |

Questions are pertinent to both sides planning. Regardless, I have not yet received the Gold forum password. |
